They are sweet, did you have them on course today?

Have always liked Epons - had the 701's about 9 yrs ago.

Those look great - a departure from my son's old 501's - the weight screws are new - makes swingweight easier.

I can see the V sole now, especially in the bottom 2 pics. Swing smooth and hit em well.

I didn’t unfortunately, but I’ll take them in their maiden voyage next week!

Thanks! Going this route was a bit of a leap of faith, but based on my range session and just how damn sexy the irons are I feel like I made the right choice!

Cool, I tried to take pics that captured the sole so I’m glad I was able to do that! I’ll be putting a lot of rounds on these and I’m looking forward to improving with them!

Starting to get a good feel for the Epon’s now since you’ve had a little time to get use to them? I know you love the feel but are the distances about the same with decent forgiveness?

Thin topline thick sole - looks good - how have them been treating you?

I'm still waiting for my wedges (50 and 58 are on backorder) so I haven't played in over a month, but I've been to the range several times with them and I'm absolutely smitten with them. I'm slacking on posting more pics and thoughts, but I'm planning on doing that once I get them out on the course. The distances seem to be in between the MP-18s and P790s, but that's based on what I've been seeing on the range. And they're more forgiving than both the MP18s and the P790s. I'm very pleased with them! I should have my RTX-4s by mid month and once they're in the bag I'll be back to my regular playing schedule!

They've been awesome man, and my range sessions have been all about getting a better feel for them. They're going to be a lot of fun on the course!

As a fitter I would %100 suggest Epon over any domestic brand especially PXG. PXG is one of the few companies that adds lead to the metal in the heads to make them feel softer. This ruins the integrity of the metal. Plus, I have take apart enough sets to be confused as to why there are screws on the back of the heads when they just build the clubs with tip weights instead...even for their ambassadors.

I've had these for just under 2 months now, and I absolutely love them! I'm going to get them on a launch monitor eventually, but from a feel perspective they're hands down better than anything else I've played. The more time I get with them, the more confidence I have, which helps me justify spending a bit more on the set. I've only played 9 holes with them so far, but now that I have a full bag again I'll be playing 1 to 2 times a week like I was earlier in the year. Time to get some more mileage on these gorgeous irons!!!

They look awesome. Those might be the best looking irons I have ever seen. It's unbelievable how beefy they look on the bottom, but at address they are nearly as thin as a blade. That's a lot of confidence right there. Enjoy them!!

Shocking you’ve only played nine holes. Was you waiting for a full bag or was it military obligations? It must have been hard getting true golf porn irons to only play nine holes...

I was waiting on my wedges before I went and played! They just arrived last week so I’m all set now. Played another 9 yesterday and the love affair continues. I’ve never been happier with a set of irons, and I’m excited to see how much my game can improve by not swapping gear so often!

Glad to hear that you like the irons so much, Josh!

I have a few rounds on my Epons now and can honestly say I haven't been this comfortable with a set of irons since I had the Z565s. The feel on the AF-505s though is a bit better, and I'm blown away at how forgiving they are. My distances seem to fall in between the MP-18s and P790s, which works perfect for me and those numbers have been consistent on well struck shots. Ball flight is perfect with the hard stepped Modus3 Tour130s, and to say I'm a fan of the looks is putting it lightly. I'm glad I ended up going with these and I look forward to throwing more darts with them in 2019 and beyond!

Love my epon irons. Just got the 705 limited edition black. Still have a set of 705/505 that might end up as backup.

Man those limited edition AF-705s look MEAN. A backup set of Epons is next level, haha! I'll get there one day :D.

Very curious about these irons and their performance. Love the looks but with my cap I'm wondering if they would be a good fit?

Personally I think these would be fine for a mid capper. They’re somewhat similar to the Srixon Z565s in terms of footprint. Best bet would be to find a place that has a demo, though. I’m certainly happy to answer any questions you may have as well!

Hi. Shoot me a PM in case you decide to part with the back up set. Looking for heads only please. Thanks!

Not cheap by any means but for me worth the coin with the right shaft

Not cheap by any means but for me worth the coin with the right shaft

I had a set built to my specs by Mike @ FWJockey. The Aerotech CF 90 provides the launch and decent I have been striving for. These irons are very long which is surprising for a one peice forged iron. They are fairly forgiving to some degree but that is the way I want the club to perform. Why find reward with a poor swing? The feel when I nut one with the Steel fibre shaft is butter. I have no hestitation in stating give the Epon AF 505 a try with the Aerotch steef fibre. My 7 iron swing speed is around 75 mph and I find no problem with the the reg flex of the FC 90"s.

I decided to go whole hog on my iron set and have a set of Epon AF-505 irons (4-PW) being built for me. A quick search revealed there hasn't been much talk about Epon irons around here in quite awhile so I'm creating this thread to review my set once it arrives. Until then, here's some info on the set from the Epon site!

AF-505 description

"With the new AF-505, EPON set out to create an iron that combined the unparalleled forgiveness and ball-speed of the 503 and 705 models with the traditional forged feel and workability of the AF-Tour models. By using a revolutionary new forging technique, they were able to meet that goal by producing an iron with the thinnest face of any 1-piece forging in the world that feels like a blade but performs like a super game-improvement iron. The addition of a new perimeter weighting system lowers the CG allowing for less offset and a shorter blade length compared to the AF-503 while still increasing overall MOI."

Now I'll be gaming mine at the stated lofts, but my set will be bent 2* up. Having gamed the MP18s, I think I'll have a good feel for the footprint and distance, but from everything I've read and heard the Epons feel even better than Mizunos. This excites me as most of you know Mizuno makes fantastic feeling irons! I'm pretty pumped about getting these in my bag especially since they're part of my '40th birthday' build!

My set will be paired with Modus3 Tour130s hard stepped with midsize Tour Velvet grips at swing weight D3 (4-9) and D4 (PW). Feel free to post any questions you may have and I'll do my best to answer them. All I ask is that comments like 'you'll sell them in a week', etc are kept to other threads as I would like this thread to actually be helpful for anyone who may be considering going this route.

All aboard the JDM goodness train!!!

Good info in this thread. I just put my new set of Epon AF-505 in to play last weekend. Really like them. I paired them with Rifle 5.5 shafts. This combo gave me my best numbers and tightest dispersion when I got fitted.

Not a lot of info in this irons, but they sure feel nice and perform really well.

My previous set was Mizuno JPX 850.

Great looking setup @monahan! I absolutely love mine and they've gotten better the more rounds I get in with them!

Reviving an old thread, but this week I installed some CT115 R+ shafts into my AF 505 heads (first shaft install I’ve done myself). Just back from my 1st range session and think this combo may be a great for for me. Surprising as to how much better my dispersion was compared to my Mizuno HMPs shafted with Nippon 950 stiff-regulars. Excited to get these on the course in the morning.
