I was watching this tournament too and wondering the same thing. I wonder if it's some kind of GPS tracking device or something?

interesting....it looks like a bluetooth beacon to track each player on the course. Those things can be accurate to within a few inches. I did a project a few years back with the olympic training centers were they tracked each athlete. The data was really cool. Im not sure how or why they did this on a course but if it is a tracking device I would love to see the data.
