Interested in some info regarding:

TPC Champions Course
The Boulders North
Verrado Golf Club
Arizona Grand

Also looking for some recommendations on courses in Phoenix/Scottsdale areas.

Skip Arizona Grand, it's expensive resort trash.

If you want some solid picks, here are mine in order.

1. Southern Dunes
2. We Ko Pa (Both Courses)
3. Wickenburg Ranch (Bit of a haul but worth it)
4. Troon Pinnacle

My favorite public course was Southern Dunes.
I also played the Verrado (Founders?) and it was also fun, but my whole group liked Southern Dunes more.

... I spent 6 weeks last spring playing every day and Verrado Founders was my favorite course to play. Great lay out where you will use all your clubs, fantastic views with amazing elevation drops on a couple par 3's, mostly out in the middle of nowhere with very few houses that are really off the course and just a ton of fun to play. Fwiw, I did not care for the tricked up Verrado Victory course at all, which is night and day different from Founders and winds between housing close to the holes.

Thanks everyone!
I’ve done Quintero, Troon Monument, Eagle Mountain.
Trying out some new ones this time around. Reseeding is around this time though so some courses are limited.
Will check out the ones everyone listed!

Dude, stay away from Grand as Fup mentioned. All the other courses mentioned are legit and well taken care of, can't go wrong with those. I really like Gold Canyon - Dinosaur Mtn, played it a couple times this summer but could be a heck of a drive from where you are

we stay at Scottsdale every year or two and I tool around town playing a variety, idly curious what you consider resort trash? A few I have played would include Whirlwind, Kierland, Troon Monument, Padre, Stallion, Talking Stick, couple others...suspect a couple of those might hit your definition but not sure. What makes them good/bad/indifferent in your estimation?

TPC Champions is one of my favorites.

Arizona Grand is a tale of two 9s. The front 9 is an afterthought with some bad hole design and just completely uninteresting play. The back 9 plays better, I love hole 13 to be honest. My issue is the course upkeep is terrible for the price they charge.

Kierland is an overpriced turd. Whirlwind, Troon Pinnacle and Monument, and Talking Stick are great. Padre is just overshadowed by the much superior Ambiente.

Ok. TPC Champions pics from today :)
Cart path only killing me though lol.

I really enjoyed the courses at Verrado. The new course there, Victory, was a lot of fun and isn't full of houses yet

No love for Red Mountain Ranch?

I've seen several threads about PHX area courses and Red Mountain Ranch is never on anyone's list. I've played it a couple of times and, for the money, it's a fine course...

Depends on when you are making your trip. If it is anytime in the next 2 months I would probably cross Southern Dunes off of your list. It got hit hard by floods right before they planned overseeding. So now they have to dry out, overseed, then open. It is a great course but will be mess for a little while. I believe they are opening in early November.

If you are interested in the Verrado courses you can look at Golf Club of Estrella as well. My personal preference would be Founders (V), Estrella, Victory (V). That changes day to day though as they are all fine golf courses.

If you are a walker - Champions, Whirlwind (both), Southern Dunes are pretty good walks.
Don't even try walking - Verrado (both), WekoPa (Saguaro), Troon North (both), Estrella
If you want a challenge walk - Wekopa (Cholla), Ambiente (some long walks but very doable)

Pete Dye on steroids course. Way too much gimmicky nonsense on a bad piece of land in my opinion.

wow that looks great - nice pics!

The Boulders (North Course), AZ
I was telling a guy that it seemed a lot like Troon. Then I went inside to get a drink and I see Troon property on the tv lol.
I must say the Troon courses are excellent here in AZ. Haven’t found one I haven’t liked yet.

Today’s pics from the North Course.
