Cobra King Forged Irons Preview

why not add a fairway wood? or another wedge? that would drive me crazy not having 14 clubs lol

Because I SUCK at hitting FW. Got all my gaps covered like this. Don't really have a need or desire for "anything extra"

I keep coming back to the thread for club porn. Love the MB/CB (I'd go with a full set of CB) - black finished irons - yes, please. I find myself more drawn to the Forged Tec irons. Those are really the first Cobra irons, since the Carbon CB, that I look at and think, "Yeah, I could see playing a lot of rounds with those."

The Cobra takeover!!!

I'd probably go after the combo set of MB/CB myself. It's a great looking balance.

Anyone tried the KFT's in the recoil shaft? Noticed it was the stock graphite option.

It would fit my penchant fo a rotation of clubs from various manufacturers over the years. Maybe this year will be W/S and Cobra. Now, if RBG would just do another 30% off deal...

For anyone playing the king forged tec, have you found gapping issues with the 4 to 6 irons? I noticed the lofts are quite close together for those three irons ( 4-21, 5-23, 6-26). Only a 5* difference between 3 irons. It's very odd to me. I would think you would have to weaken the 5 and 6 iron by 1* in order to have proper distance separation between those 3 irons and then also weaken the 7 by 1* as well otherwise you would have a 3* gap form the 6 to 7. I'm close to pulling the trigger on these with recoil 110's, but the odd gaps in the lofts are a bit concerning.

Just Quick Question here before I chime in: have you ever hit them?

I've had three good sessions with them now, but not every iron. I've been demoing these against the xr pro's and cf16's a lot lately. A bit of the 850f and VPC's as well. I've mainly hit the 6 and 7 because most of the clubs for testing are a 6 or 7 with interchangeable shafts.

How was the gapping for you between the 6 and 7?

It was good between those two clubs, but they do have a typical 4* gap though. I'm used to a 4* gap between all my irons from 4-pw. I know the design aspects are different with current irons compared to what I play though. Higher launching with stronger lofts. I'm sure cobra has gapped them this way for a reason taking into consideration the avg person's ability to play longer irons and how the heads are designed. I was just curious what others have found after playing them.

I was in the Albany area today and got to spend a few hours with Pete at the range. I didn't bring my clubs and saw the shop had the demo of the MBs. I could game them in a heart beat. They feel exactly like the ACP's did but are a bit better looking with a thinner top line than the ACP's. I was living just off of center on the toe side as I believe I'd need them a degree upright. But even so there wasn't much penalty from where I was striking it. I was super impressed.

You had a nice contact pattern when I checked them out.

Absolutely love these over the Black finish. Those are down right sexy!!!

Haha yeah I had it pretty grooved. When I turned in the guy looked at me and said we usually don't see patterns like that and I can see why you'd want to hit a blade, want to get fitted? Lol I like chrome irons but the black look so good. I could see em sneaking into my bag at some point.

Haha I generally prefer chrome as well, but for me I'd love to own the black set. I absolutely love the look of the black.

This remind me of Titleist for some reason with the "Forged MB". They do look good though.

I still find it hard to believe that I swung that club five times. #iamresponsibleforthescuffWAYoutonthetoe

The set GW on the KFT is special. Used it today for my 100yrd shots as well as 127-133 full shots! It may be my Favorite in the set!

I hit the Forged CB/MB combo for the first time today. Let me tell you, these are some of the sessiest irons you'll ever see. I was able to hit both the 6-iron (CB) and the 7-iron (MB) with C-Tapers. Besides being beautiful, and weighted wonderfully, the blade length is tiny! Also, the CB version is barely bigger than the MB version which makes the set just flow together nicely. Honestly, I thought the 6-iron was a MB until I saw the CB stamped on it.

As for performance, these were not overly difficult to hit. I found them softer than the Titleist MB, and easier to hit, and on par feel-wise with the MP-4. Dispersion was very tight. I don't know if that is a function of the club, the shaft, or both. Distance loss on a bad strike was as bad as you would expect from that type of iron. Unfortunately, I could only hit them on mats so I have no idea what turf interaction is like.

I've been visiting stores in my area, hoping to see these in person. I like hearing they have a thinner top line. I'll be in the market for a set of blades in a year or so (maybe sooner, depending on my wife), and am building out a mental wish list. Thin top line is near the top...

Tested the KFT irons w/ c-taper lite shafts against my gamer Apex irons w/ recoils. Wow! 5-7 yards longer, better sound, feel, and dispersion. I had to order a set!

I hit The Forged Tec irons today at a Demo Day at my course. They felt great, cut through the turf like a knife through butter. My Apex's are more forgiving, but these are really, really good.

I love this look, but personally I'm not a fan of the black finish, as I much prefer the finish of the ACP and the the flyz pros

Blasphemy! I adore black finish and the king forged irons have great finish on them. I'd prefer to not have any paint fill other than gloss black though

Haha, if you say so, I'm coming from the ACPs to the W/S M3 irons, and I'm hating the Black finish, I keep thinking I wonder how hard it would be to strip this finish off.
