I think lost in a few of these posts.. you don't have to take relief at all if you choose not to. Plenty of examples of hitting off the path if a drop on either side will be worse off than clipping it off the tarmac or cement. You are "entitled" to relief. that means you can deny to take it. But if you DO take it, it must be complete relief..
