I hear ya, The only reason i get to play it is because I worked as a Marshall during the Tournament. Its not like i have an "in" and get to play when i want....or you and Jman would already have an invite.

Alright, if everything goes well this week I should finally get out for my first round since the event on Wednesday. Really looking forward to hitting the m5 tour again on a familiar course to see how it compares to my g400 lst. I will be hitting it with the same shaft that I have in the g400 so it will be a fair fight. I have grown quite fond of the Accra tz6 & can only imagine it will make the m5 even better than it has already been. May even walk so I can try out the new carry bag!

Managed to finally get out yesterday as well.

First, I will say this. This driver is going no where.

    Review:

I had my fitting local (MD), outdoors on Trackman, and chose the M6 9.0 head, paired to an Evenflow black, playing at 45". I was skeptical to say the least, as to whether this driver would perform as I expected it to, and as well as, or better than, my G400Max.

I had requested the driver to be built to a SW of D7, but was told the closest they could do, was as close to D4 as they could get. No biggie, I have lead tape. I played the driver over the event weekend at it's built weight, and, while I didn't hit it well, I did have a few here and there that showed real promise. By the end of the trip I was fatigued, and swinging lazily, so I held my review/feelings until I could game fresh, with the driver tweaked out the way I wanted.

Fast forward to my return home. I added tape until it felt the way I wanted it to (pic incoming later tonight). This turned out to be 10g as measured on my digital gram scale, I use to mix epoxy. I suspect I'm at D7 or E0 currently. Perfect.

Headed out to my home course (Queenstown Harbor) with not much expectation. However from the jump it was clear this combo is a winner. Took about three holes to get in the groove, but this driver is a bomber for me. The ball flight is one I've been chasing for a few years now, and, drives were landing in spots that were very much not the norm. This makes me happy.

The one gripe I had with the G400 (As BriMac has stated as well) is the feel of the face is dull/not there. I had a general idea of where the ball hit on the face, but with the M6, I could tell to the mm where, without looking. The feel of the M6 is absolutely addicting (I preferred it to the M5, as it is a slightly softer feel). Perfect.

The sound of this club is also incredibly luscious. Like a fungo bat, and an aluminum bat had a baby. Just pure sex.

Forgiveness is every bit as good as the G400 max. I definitely had a bunch of misses while golfing with Jory, and let him know my surprise and elation. Toe side is my miss, and punishment is basically zero.

This club has exceeded my expectations in every way, and makes me hurt inside about how much I spent on my G400 with a GD BB6, lol. To be fair, at the time, M5/M6 weren't out, and I did not get along at all with M3/M4.

I am excited to say the least. I always enjoyed my RBZ stage 2 tour (current back up driver), and M1. The M6 is like they put them in one tidy package.

10/10 will game, probably for the next 5yrs, as I'm not a club ho. haha.

Glad the event has finally hyped these drivers up. Cobra was the early favorite and lots of people like both Callaway offerings, but the m5 has been the best driver ive ever played.

Its not a ball speed monster or gives a random freakish mph like f9 or the g410...but I get consistent mph everywhere on the face with this. Where I get distance is the combo of launch and low spin. Most of the youtube reviews all show the same thing also.

obviously performance is important, but what I love about this club most are the looks and sound

Forgiveness of the M3 compared to M5?
    Sounds vs the two?

I hit a m1 the other day and the sound of it compared to my M3 was drastic. Imo the M3 sounded way better than mine. Curious on the differences between the latest offering.

While things were not cooperating for me on the Foresight GC2 with getting data for my Lynx Hybo review, things did pan out for time with the M5.

As I mentioned in here last night and in prior posts, the M5 in the setup I had needed some trimming, 45.75" is just too much out of my comfort zone, I gave it a go, but it needed to go. So, the Smoke was trimmed to 44.75" to match my preferred playing length, which also lead to some weighting issues which were fixed easily with 4g of weight added into the head.

That brings us to present day. Hahaha

I wanted to try different setups here and see just what the numbers told me. My times with the Smoke 70 6.5 in other heads had been good, but, I wanted to SEE it here in the M5.

Thanks to an empty course today, I was able to do my favorite thing and camp out on our 5th hole which makes for my favorite driver testing area. Armed with 36 B330-S golf balls (what I use for all my testing/reviews) I set up the Foresight GC2 and went at it. Sadly, the iPad isn't cooperating with uploading the screen cap at the moment, but, I can transcribe the data here.

I chose to hit the M5 in its standard loft, not the -0.75U that Chandler tuned me into, just to see what was what. Spoiler, after this session, I moved the clubhead back there. So, for four shafts, 8 shots each, here were the averages:

    M5 10.5 w/ HZRDUS Smoke 70 6.5
    154.8 Ball Speed (156 max) - 13.9 Launch - 2596 RPM - 36 Yard Peak

    M5 10.5 w/ ACCRA TZ5
    157.2 Ball Speed (159 max) - 12.2 Launch - 2142 RPM - 31 Yard Peak

    M5 10.5 w/ TPT 16LKP
    157.7 Ball Speed (159 max) - 11.8 Launch - 2443 RPM - 30 Yard Peak

    M5 10.5 w/ Graphite Design AD-TP7x
    155.8 Ball Speed (157 max) - 12.9 Launch - 2515 RPM - 33 Yard Peak

What does it all mean? Well, first, my damn swing still isn't back to where it should be speed wise but I digress. Really, it showed me that the Smoke got, well, smoked, when just looking at the averages. It had the slowest ball speed, but the highest launch, spin, and descent angles. Really, I'm taking it with a grain of salt because it was the first shaft setup I hit, now, I was warmed up prior, but still. So next time out it'll get another shake to see, because I fail to believe its going to cost me that much ball speed unless I'm just not getting it back to the ball as well toward center. Anyway, the ACCRA showed out, and I then played that shaft in the head set back to -0.75U (so 9.75 loft) for 36 holes and enjoyed what I saw.

As mentioned, my swing is still not where it SHOULD be at this point in the year with the big stick but I blame the constant rain for that. Either way, the speeds I saw today out of the M5 are FOR ME comparable to the F9 and Epic flash I have. I do wish I'd ignored the 'fitting' I went through and gone with the 9* head, but that is on me. More than anything what I have noticed most though is the TwistFace has NOT killed me like I expected it to, given my recent history with the TEE EXS and their similar concept, I was bracing for the wild wild west, east, north, and south...but it has been much more in play for me.

I'm not going to sit here and say its the most forgiving, longest, or anything, because there just isn't the sample size for that this soon, there is no way for me to make that call. Now, it IS addicting as hell to hit sound wise, even more so now with some hotmelt in the head, and on the button it just screams hit hard while the misses change in tone while not getting loud, I like that, no harshness here like I got from the Flash SZ. I do think its one of the top heads for looks out there, it and the F9. I also now after seeing the numbers am impressed with the launch to spin ratio, it launches higher than I expected, but the spin is definitely lower for me than other 10.5 heads I have had in the bag this year (G400 Max and Cobra F9) without having to do any crazy weight forward and lofting down shifts like I did with the F9.

All in all, a good, fun, day. Hope to have more tomorrow!

    Old school. lol.

I wish they made replaceable rear weights (and yes, I know the M4 weights fit...) but I'm not to the point where I want to mess with that currently.

They’re every bit as they’ve been billed imo.

Though, there is a Ventus lurking...

    Thoughts on looks:

I was skeptical at how the silver wrapping the face would present at address. Turns out, not an issue.

This club is very nice to look at. I love the matte carbon. Very pleasing to my eye.

I could do without the little "M6" on the crown though. I know I have an M6, and it's already in 2 different sizes and fonts on the bottom. But I get what they're trying to do, and after a minute I stopped noticing it.
