So seeing that I have two stroke labs, I was able to sacrifice one of the grips to show you all the technology inside, This was the smaller of the two grips that they offer,Joe and Sean gave me a different grip to try and help with steadying my hands so I threw it on one of the stroke labs. The grips are a great grip, I believe they did design these on their own. The graphics are pretty cool and the feel and texture is just right, I plan on getting a replacement grip but the larger one.

    Great questions Mike!

For distance control on longer putts, how easy or hard was it? The White Hit insert and I haven’t gotten along previously as I couldn’t find that sweet spot on longer putts. - distance control with really any insert putter has been a struggle with me the last couple of years and is a big reason I went to a milled model this last year. In California I was seeing much more consistency in long putts than what I normally do. I don't know if it's the White Hot Microhinge or the shaft but I had many longer putts that I left within tap in range which is something I've struggled with. I think the shaft and weight redistribution has helped out with my tempo.

Also what is the feel at impact? Is it similar to the EXO line or because it’s in a steel head offers a different feedback? - It's nice and soft yet firm if that makes any sense. I thought the EXO line was pretty good but there was just something that was a little lacking. This one nails it. The best way I can describe it is that you can feel the solidness of the metal Microhinge yet you get the classic soft feel from the White Hot coating.

I went in to the fitting thinking I only wanted to game a milled putter but I changed my mind pretty quickly after what I felt and saw.

Tell me more about the shaft, mainly is its purpose to help stabilize the stroke or has another benefit - It provides better consistency with your stroke. The weight distribution I believe was meant to help you take the putter head back the same each time and make your stroke more consistent. That should result in better speed control on those longer putts you asked about plus keep you on line.

I mentioned this in my review but it's really hard to describe what I've felt with this shaft but I can tell something is different. It just feels more smooth.

I had similar thoughts when I only saw pictures but I like it much more in person. I've never been a fan of the Versa putters myself but this gray and black looks much better to me.

I couldn't believe how much I liked the Tuttle! It's such a simple design but seemed stupid easy to line up. I totally could have came home with one.

Odyssey Stroke Lab Putter Initial Thoughts / Review / Feedback

During the presentation about the new Stroke Lab putters, we learned a little bit about the history of putter design, especially in regards to shaft weight, head weight, grip weight, total weight, and swing weight and how these have trended over time. The smart folks at Odyssey noticed that swing weight has gotten really out of whack due to various trends and the fact that putter shafts haven't really changed, and this motivated them to take a step back and take a new approach. As a result, the Stroke Lab concept was born, which includes specific head weights, a multi-material graphite / steel shaft that is lighter than traditional shafts, and specific grip weights -- all of these designed to work together to create a specific swing weight / balance for the putter. What they told us about swing weights and what they decided to do about it makes a ton of sense, and it legitimately seems like it could help golfers putt better by improving their tempo.

The Stroke Lab putters sport a black / yellow / silver / white color combination which actually looks really great in my opinion. They also feature the White Hot Microhinge (WHM) insert, which was first introduced with the EXO line of putters. Everything about these putters screams quality, class and innovation.

During my putter fitting, I started with the Number One, which is a typical looking plumber's neck blade. The results suggested more toe hang would help, so I switched to a Number Three, which is a flow neck blade. This is the putter I ended up with and will be reviewing.

Because we use the putter more than any other club during a round of golf, this might be the most exciting change in my bag. There is no doubt a lot of room for improvement in all areas of my game, but improved accuracy and consistency with putting could be huge. When it comes to putting, I can be pretty streaky, but I average around 32 putts per round. My lowest recorded number of putts in the last few years is 27, and I've already matched that with the Stroke Lab Number Three. Saying this putter has me excited is an understatement.

Coming from an O-Works #1, I was already very familiar with the Microhinge insert. I love the roll that both Microhinge inserts imparts on the ball. There are times where I feel I get a couple more rolls than I expected, which is almost always to my benefit. Most of you probably already know the WHM insert was designed to be a couple decibels louder than the original Microhinge based on feedback Odyssey received from players. In my experience, there is definitely firmer feedback from the WHM insert, and golfers who dislike Microhinge for being too soft should not assume WHM is the same if they have interest in these new putters (or the EXO line).

This line of putters really could be a game changer for many players, from amateurs to pros.

    More info: https://blog.odysseygolf.com/strokelab/

This thing has my attention. Flow neck blade with the squared-off flange and sight-line on top (as close to the lineup line on the ball as possible) is exactly what I loved about the Metal-X Milled #6. I think I might be in love.

And here I was thinking I would stick with WH-RX for awhile...

Hmm, in all honesty, I've never found an Odyssey putter that I truly liked, though there were many that I never got a chance to try. I just don't think I'm a good enough putter to get along with inserts. Every so often I strike the ball and catch part of the insert and part of the metal. Not to mention the speed control issues I've had with them. Their milled options that I've tried have all felt too light to me.

This new line is a bit polarizing in the looks department. But, I'm not really in the market for them anyhow.

Anyhow, good info and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll just mosey on over to the Toulon thread. Keep up the great work guys!

I just rolled the #1W (will be in the bag) and the new shaft design really makes these putters easy to roll. Nothing forced and ultra smooth. Not a ton of effort of long puts just a little longer stroke than 5’ putts.
The setup is perfect, for me. I think I’ll be rocking a 34” 1W in the near future.
