These irons are living up to the hype. Forgiving as anything I’ve played with mishits, and on well struck shots distances are right what I need. I hit several shots that never left the flag and even hit the flag on a par 3 that had me nervous for a bit.

I unlocked a swing thought today with these and once I figured it out, a mediocre iron game that was a liability most of the time, now is hopefully turning into a strength for me. I already want to get back out and hit these again.

They are purdy! The black $tapers look nice in them.
After a range sesh, heres what I gots:

I like the more "players" look to them. Good bit smaller heads and or top lines than the P770s.

Any concerns i had with $tapers were totally unfounded....hit them a great trajectory. No higher or lower than my go to Ctapers and with a smidge nicer feel.

Even though I ordered them a 1/4" long, they appear to be about a 1/4" short of my TaylorMade irons. I'm not worried about it though. Might benefit me.

These irons are def a half club longer, maybe more, than my P770s.

The cup face feel is interesting. I almost wanna say clicky ish...but not. The longer clubs have a pretty cool sound to them. Certainly not solid/forged/soft catengory, but not in a bad way. I kinda like it.

Visually, I need to get used to the setup and offset of them. But hit them quite well at the range.
The 4 irons is going lower than I'd prefer, so may bend weak a degree or two.

Overall, nice practice session with them. Playing tomorrow, so on course will be interesting....

Callaway Apex 19 and Apex Pro 19 Irons

not a lot of good from today’s round with these because of a bad back, but i did get away with less than perfect strikes. one that comes to mind is the short par 4 4th. hit a hybrid to the wrong side of the fairway and had a big tree in front me. 138 to the hole. decided to hit a high 9i, caught it a little fat and toe side, but it flew straight over the tree, dead straight, about 20’ past the pin. very cool shot that honestly i didn’t hit that well.

another shot that kinda shocked me was an aw from 122. downwind, ball slightly below my feet. hit it a hair toward the heel, but it came off beautifully. flew dead straight, hit about 5’ left of the pin and sucked back about 8’. it didn’t spin back downhill or with the grain. it spun back almost 10’ downwind! that was seriously impressive.

Hit some really nice shots with these today. Some swing changes have me hitting a draw, which I’m having to adjust to so probably didn’t hit as many greens as I’d have liked. But these do everything I need from an iron. They look good, feel great, and the forgiveness is absolutely there. A slight miss isn’t penalized in the least.

Hi all. New to the site, but have been following this thread for a few months now. It helped me pull the trigger on my initial purchase of a set of standard Apex Forged 4-AW with X100 shafts in February after reading the initial reactions from posters.

I stand right in line with most posters in feeling that these irons are AMAZING. The standards are a powerful iron and LONG. More consistent in finance control that my previous set of CF16s. Beyond this, the confidence I gained by playing these irons has helped me with some of the best ball striking rounds I've ever had. Standing over the ball with these clubs made me start zeroing in on pins that were a no-go previously. The forgiveness of these irons is amazing, especially with thin shots still getting great distance. I think anyone from a 5 to 20 handicap could easily bag these.

Iron play has always been a strength of my game, but the standard Apex irons gave me more confidence that I've had before. So much so that I jumped into the deep end and purchased a set of Apex Pros last week to see if my game could hold up.

I wanted to comment, as it seems a lot of folks are on the fence on whether to go with standard Apex, a combo set, or all pros. This has only been my initial experience, but I've only noticed benefits from the 3 rounds I've played with the pros. First off, they are a beautiful iron to look at (even in chrome). Secondly, for a players iron with weaker lofts, I've lost maybe a yard or two from when I was playing the standard Apex irons. Not sure how to explain it other than these irons have given me a great swing thought of not getting quick in my backswing and really being aggressive into the ball and I've been able to control the ball flight much better with the pros.

The pros are truly an amazing set. The forgiveness that others have spoke about is very noticeable for an iron of these caliber. You are penalized for thin shots or something way off the toe or heel, but good swings are rewarded with missles that attack pins. I've been really happy with the ability to hit knockdowns and three quarter shots more regularly. Also, as others have mentioned with the pros, misses have been short, not left or right.

The extra spin I've been getting has also been noticeable, especially with shots from some thick rough stopping within a yard of it's pitch mark. The turf interaction with from fairways and the rough has been incredible. As a lot of guys have mentioned, hitting then pros on the screws is addicting and a true joy.

I'm only a few rounds in and may change my mind when my swing turns ugly, but the pros are staying in my bag for the foreseeable future. But the standards are so nice that I'm not parting with them just yet.

Got in my first round with the Pros yesterday. I certainly didnt break any scoring record of my own but that wasnt the fault of the irons. Shot 78, which is pretty poor for me at my home course. My body is sadly still recovering from the Bethpage Black round. Legs were still quite tired and half pulled the back out on my lower right side over night. In addition, going from the really fast, pure greens of Bethpage to my local home muni (still recovering from aeration), didn’t help me either. Lol.

Anyway, some thoughts on the irons:
They def have a more players look than my P770s, more offset. Really nice to look down on the profile.
1st on course shot: hit a 7 iron on the par 3 third to about 25 feet. Two putt par. Didnt hit it great, but I think I also swung kinda tentatively.
My next 7 iron was on the 4th hole and I needed more club. Left it short of the green and poor chip and putt lead to bogus.
5th hole par 3: this is where my stomach almost jumped out of my chest. Hit 5 iron and it was the worst shot I’ve hit on that hole in quite some time. Had to re-tee, just in case I couldn’t find the first. Second one was nearly as bad. Ended up finding the ball, penalty and still saved bogey.
These tee shots had me nervous about my purchase.....
7th: hit a nice, albeit slightly pulled 4 iron off the tee. Nice flight. Wasnt my best but I was fine with it.
8th par 3: hit a beauty 7 iron the about 9 feet. Par
9th: bad drive made me chip out. Left with 168 straight up hill 3rd into par 5. Hit 7 to about 12 feet. Par
12th: par 3 198 back pin (bit into breeze) - hit a really pretty 5 iron that almost went over the green. Nice shot though. Par
13th: Par 5- blistered the fw off the tee and left with 220 in. Hit 4 iron really nicely, but missed green in tough spot. Par
15th: short 4. Decent 5 iron off the tee. Left with 159 to a back pin. Hit a beauty low, draw 8 iron to about 10 feet. Par.

Overall, i like them. They are a smidge shorter length (shafts are 1/4" shorter) than my TaylorMades, may have lighter swing weights/feel too.
On course distances seem to be similar to P770.
Need to get lofts, lies checked.

I am still loving these irons. To a certain extent, I am still dialing in some distances, but for the most part they just perform.

One thing I will note is that I think I need to have the specs checked on at least my Pro AW. For as solidly and predictably the rest of the set react, I am getting some genuinely shocking results from just the AW. When I set it down, it seems to want to open way up, so I am not sure if perhaps something is just a bit off.

Mine supposedly shipped Friday so I'm expecting them maybe today possibly tomorrow Wednesday at the latest. And that's the first thing I'm going to do is get all the Lofts checked.

I had a very good day with the irons and got to see quite a bit of the VFT feature on wedge shots, specifically the PW had some hard spin left towards the pin leaving me a 6 footer for birdie.

Par 3s I struggled mightily the first 5 Par 3s, didn't come close to any of them and pulled 4 of them.

On the next 9 I stuck both Par 3s with AW and 8i closest to the pin. That's Golf.

I was very happy with my approach game. One thing that really helped was putting more weight on my front leg to strike the ball better and get more height.
