Twice I shot even par, once on a par 71 and the other on a par 72. My goal for the year had been to break par at least one time. When I shot the par 71, I stepped up to the 18th tee box 1 under. The hole is a fairly short, uphill par 4. It is reachable with a great drive, but groves of trees guard both sides of the fairway. I could have pulled a hybrid, played a wedge into the green, two putted and walked away having broken par for the very first time for 18. I got greedy, hit driver, thinking I could birdie the hole and break 70. I left the club face open, driving my ball into the trees on the right. I ended up having to chop out and bogeyed the hole to shoot an even 71.
My goal this year again is to break even par for 18.
