After watching this video, it dispelled a lot of myths about the balls. I don't like to spend a ton on balls but this made my mind up for me. Bridgestone E5 as they are on sale right now since they're last years model. They are $25 a dozen here so probably $18-20 US. Just bought 3 dozen. Callaway Superhot were the next best value for the performance, they don't spin as much as the E5 around the greens.
Basically what the video says is that all balls go basically the same distance so you want the cheapest one that spins the best around the greens. Most of those are the high end 3 piece balls. The Wilson Duo Urethane and the Snell Red/Black are the best value for the high end balls. The E5 for the cheaper ones. Might go buy a few more dozen.
