    Well said, Freddie.

The "Jake Effect" is the only way to live.

Don't take things personally, be positive, keep a great sense of humor, and blow off the negative. Enjoy the moment and live in the present.

I recognize that people are not always good with a keyboard in expressing their thoughts and feelings, or maybe they're having a tough day at the office, home, or didn't sleep well last night. Stress, pressure ... it's all reflected from a keyboard. I enjoy meeting guys with whom I've posted - the real deal is real and you appreciate and enjoy them as an individual. And then you can understand them better through a keyboard.
"It is good sportsmanship not to pick up lost balls while they are still rolling.” Mark Twain

Once you drive TexPress at an exhilarating 95-105 mph on an almost vacant tollway in the middle of Dallas, you will miss your exit. You're going too fast and not many exits.

Great words, Freddie. This works for all of life and not just THP. My wife reminds me of positive perspectives and spins all the time, and I'm a luckier man for it.

    Words of wisdom.
As many of us have experienced tragedies recently that puts things in perspective, it really puts things into context about what really matters and how trivial matters shouldn’t define our behaviour.
I’ve never paid too much attention to the behaviour of others online. It’s too easy to become wrapped up in other’s detrimental comments. I try to teach this to my daughters as they enter the world of social media.
What I value more to your post Freddie is more of a challenge for myself in everyday life. I lost a friend yesterday and again I’m reminded of what really matters. This has happened to me in the past and I’ve always reminded myself of the same thing. Don’t sweat the small stuff, be a good person, don’t yell at my kids so much, etc...
The challenge for myself is to maintain and continue these positives behaviours and thoughts as time goes on and life returns to normal and continues to try and kick me in the a$$. It’s always easy to return to ones old patterns (like my old weak fade) but I guess it’s like everything else in life in that I must work at it to maintain it (my new powerful push draw).
I didn’t know Jake but have read a lot about the type of guy he was. I think we could all take a lesson from him and try to achieve the type of goodness that he embodied.

    Thanks for posting this Panda.

THP has always been about golf and fun. For me, it's an escape from the cr@p I see/deal with daily. THP is a family and like any family somebody occasionally gets their knickers twisted and words are said; feelings are hurt but usually, unfortunately not always, golf and fun prevail.

We're here on THP because of golf and fun. There are a lot of great members and the events/industry insiders/equipment we have access to because of THP is mind blowing. Life is too short and too uncertain to let petty stuff interfere with golf and fun. The "Jake Effect" should be part of everyone's life, here on THP or out in the real world.

So true, I hate it when people take forum discussion to heart instead if what it truly is in an environment like this- Information sharing. I mean we have trolls and those who want to just poke and try to give the needle when it just isn't necessary. I wold hope if someone takes something i say a little sideways to PM me and ask for clarification. I will Go with The Jake Effect and ask first myself.

Absolutely well said! Far too often, I've let someone else's words drag me down. Life's far too short for that. This place is full of great people who are willing to help in about every aspect of life, and especially in a game we all love. Go out and do something good for the sake of being a better human. While I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Jake, it's evident he made an impact here and on earth.

    The Jake Effect

Words can be lots of things. Some may tell a captivating story, some may convey an emotion or enlightened idea. Some amount to little more than innocent small talk or spirited banter.

But in a world of so, so many words, Freddie, that was a heck of a lot of really, really good ones strung together beautifully.

Extremely well said and well received. Thank you.

I have had heated arguments, spirited debates and gut busting laughs. This place can bring out raw emotion, I get it. And I think emotion is good, it makes you feel alive and it shows you care. And Jake understood this better than most.

The 'Jake effect' is a kinder way of looking at things. Issues on the internet don't mean a hill of beans when you really sit back and think about it. But we have all this strife and bitter undertones. I am not saying they are warranted....no actually I am. Most of us have played rounds of golf together, laughed and enjoyed the moments. Why can't this carry over, I know it did with Jake. He enjoyed life and what it had to offer. I didn't let the little things bother him. I would like to see more of that out of all of us. No more petty BS, no more unfounded, misguided anger. Typing on the key board is not communication. Picking up the phone or sending a PM, that's communication. Stop listening to conjecture and rumors, go to the source an hash it out or don't. But without facts you really do not have a leg to stand on.

THP has given us a vehicle to learn about the game of golf. Share time on the golf course. Branch out with others outside of THP. THP has afforded us a great deal in regards to the social aspects of life. Why must we take things to a level that is not needed. There is zero reason for the vast majority to get their panties in a bunch. Stop protecting the idea that you are right and they are wrong and just know that we all have different significant opinions.

I am not asking for everyone to agree. What I am asking for is an understanding that no one person is like another and that is what makes this place so great. Don't dwell in the bad but embrace the good that created this community. I'd like those that are willing to have the 'Jake Effect'. Don't sweat the small stuff, don't make mountains out of mole hills and don't assume. Embrace your life outside of THP and bring that positiveness to the forum. I don't think that is too much to ask and I know some will scoff at the idea and that is fine. But those that don't will see that it will all start to flow in the right direction.
    I love you!
