I love my S60 but the battery life reviews alone have me considering this unit. $500 is pricey but I've also still got a G6 that works great, so I trust Garmin quality. Love the idea of not having to recharge after every 18-36 holes.

I got this out on the range today. It is stupid simple to use. I worked through the entire bag of clubs and I would say the ball speeds are spot on, relative to GC 2 numbers I know I see indoors. This shot looking down at the screen is driver and that is exactly what I have been seeing, somewhere between 150 and 152 ball speed. My driving distance on Cobra Connect is at 272 currently, so again, it’s spot on. Also, you can see that even with the sun directly overhead, there is no problem seeing the screen. The unit is so small, it is pretty exciting to have something that you can throw in the bag, use on the range and get such accurate data.

I have been continuing to use mine and am now a little disappointed with the numbers being provided by the launch monitor. At first, they were spot on to what I would expect. Now, they are coming up significantly lower than reality. Yesterday, I was on the range and had a yardage marker lasered in at 149. I was hitting my 8 iron what I would estimate to be 10 yards past the marker, which I would expect, as my 8 iron is a 160 club. However, the launch monitor was consistently reading 145 yards. This has been the case through the bag.

I am planning to call customer service and see if there is an explanation, because, as previously mentioned, my initial use had me very excited. I will report back on my progress.

I had a very similar issue at a local range. I've been getting really accurate numbers consistently except for this one time where everything was registering way short. Weird. I don't think the balls are limited flight balls because visually they were flying normal distances.

During a different session I started to tinker around with the "Virtual Round" and "Target Practice" modes. Virtual Round is a fun way to bang balls on the range with some meaning but since dispersion isn't a factor at all it loses it's shine pretty quick. It's basically just a distance game where every ball goes straight up the middle.
That said I really enjoyed the target practice mode and had a ton of fun dialing in some numbers with my wedges/irons. Trying to hit 5 balls in a row exactly 75/125/150/175 really helps develop some feel I think.

Add me to the list of those wanting one of these and not being able to make up my mind. I was also looking at the Swingbyte 2 but they’ve either gone out of business or have sold out all their stock.

Definitely something happened to that company. Their app hasn't been updated in a long time and they never updated their hardware from v2. V2 is many years old.

I have it and used it for a while but the thing never stayed on the club all that well and the weight was significant enough you could feel the difference swinging it.

Another forum has had a few people reporting software problems with the Garmin. However, you know how that is. There is always going to be a few lemons in tech.

I was so excited about this device and when I first purchased it, I was still very happy. However, with some additional experience with it, it sadly is going to go back under my 90 day satisfaction guarantee.

As mentioned in a previous post, the unit began giving me reads that I knew for a fact were significantly off. I was going to call the company and see if there was some explanation, because initially, the numbers were extremely accurate to what I would have expected relative to expensive launch monitors. It was possible there was some software malfunction or user error. However, the deal killer happened yesterday.

I was hitting some balls and was only a third of the way through a medium bucket when the unit gave me a warning that it was overheated and could not read data until it cooled. The temperature outside was about 80 degrees. The unit was on grass. For me, if I can’t use the unit out on the range during temperatures that are not outrageously warm, it serves no purpose for me.

I am a little saddened, because it conceptually is exactly what I was looking for. Others’ experiences obviously may differ from mine, but I wanted to provide my honest feedback.

I don't want to sound argumentative but I don't think any electronic device can withstand direct sustained sunlight when its 80 degrees out.

I don’t take it as argumentative and you make a valid point. Nevertheless, the device serves no purpose for me, since most of my golf is in the sunshine and 80 degrees is not even that warm. I purchased the device primarily as a launch monitor for my range practice and if I am extremely limited in that type of use, I cannot justify spending $500 for it. Certainly, others may feel differently and that’s ok.

Gotcha. I think the Mevo might be a better option for being in the sun. The G80 having a screen and all the components tightly packed into a little box it has no breathing room and obviously no fan.

I thought about the overheating issue too because it'll be hanging off my bag during a round and suspect to that very problem.

Interesting that you're seeing overheating. Is that just when using it as a LM? I've got a garmin hand held unit and a watch. Neither has ever over-heated, and I play in the high 90s pretty regularly during the July/August timeframe.
