I like to clarify soft stepping parallel irons.
This question is for irons already been built and pulling the shaft out.
For taper shaft pull 5i shaft and use it on 6i and it makes 1/3 softer. Simple enough.

What about the parallel shaft? Since parallel shaft flex is adjusted by length of tip trimming does it work like taper shaft? Use 5i shaft on 6i makes it softer or it doe make any difference?

Thanks

Since they are pulls, I think you do it like you described above (like a taper tip), then butt trim to length. You will have an extra short shaft and will need to purchase a new shaft for the longest iron. Any tip trimming to parallel shafts just "hard steps) them. Also, there are certain parallel shafts you never tip trim. Nippon 950 comes to mind.

Thanks for clarifying this. I figure it should work like taper shaft.
