This is a press release

Golf is a sport driven by the feet. Walking from shot to shot, every step bringing you closer to the hole. Every element of your shot – the traction, the torque, the power and the precision – comes from the ground up, and few know this better than 3-time Major Champion Jordan Spieth. So when it was time to bring the Spieth 3 to life, Jordan tasked Under Armour’s design team with developing the most technologically advanced golf shoe on the market.

Using a data-driven approach, the brand took the development process across the pond to consult J.J. Rivet, a leader in biomechanics at the European Tour Performance Institute. Under Armour incorporated J.J.’s unique scientific insights into the torqueing and rotation of the golf swing, and how it starts with foot stabilization and ground contact, to inform the patented traction technology in the shoe.

“JJ Rivet’s invaluable expertise and deep knowledge of the biomechanics of the golf swing helped the UA golf footwear team focus on specific key design elements in order to deliver the most technologically advanced golf shoe we’ve ever produced,” said Mike Forsey, Director of Global Golf Footwear.

The Spieth 3 is the lightest weight Spieth golf shoe to date, while maintaining stability and structural support. Jordan worked with UA’s research team to determine three must-haves that could not be compromised in the construction of the Spieth 3.

TRACTION TO SUPPORT THE SWING
When a golfer swings, the forefoot rotates laterally and the heel rotates in the medial direction. When the swing comes back to impact, the foot wants to twist out from under the golfer, resulting in foot slippage. The Spieth 3 uses patented rotational resistance and traction, both vertically and horizontally, to keep the feet on the ground as long as possible. The golfer is able to use the ground for leverage to power the swing and prevent slipping, ensuring maximum control and minimizing power loss.

Mike Forsey said, “Traction is what separates golf footwear from street shoes. Under Armour Golf continues to be the only golf footwear brand speaking to traction to support the golf swing. With the Spieth 3, we’ve added vertical traction elements which allow the golfer to naturally harness vertical force to bring more power to the ball at impact.”

COMFORT WHILE WALKING THE GREEN
At Jordan’s request, the overall weight of the Spieth 3 is significantly lighter than past models. To provide the most comfort and stability when walking the course, the Spieth 3 has an upper with microfiber in the heel and a smartly woven jacquard in the forefoot.

WATERPROOFING FOR ANY ELEMENTS
Jordan is in his shoes for up to 10 hours at times, so the Spieth 3 was given a waterproof and breathable membrane designed to release perspiration while keeping water from entering. Jordan wanted a zero-distraction shoe, built to perform in any climate, and he got it.

“The Spieth 3 is the best one yet. No question about it. It’s easy for me to be really excited about it. I can definitely feel the difference, and seeing the data to back up the work the Under Armour team put in confirms it.”
– Jordan Spieth

SPIETH 3 PRODUCT DNA:
New evolved rotational resistance technology, UA Rotational Resistance Spike (RST 2.0), and Softspikes™️ Silver Tornado, which create a lower profile and offer rotational traction with less putting green impact.
Clarino microfiber in the upper with an integrated lacing system, combined with Smart Woven jacquard forefoot and heel counter for biomechanically correct foot support and lightweight comfort.
A strategically placed carbon fiber insert that delivers a stable hitting platform, and a cushioned EVA midsole that allows for all-day comfort on the course and support to ground the movement of the foot through the golf swing.
The Spieth 3 will be available for purchase on February 1, 2019 on UA.com.

Did the speith 2 sell well? I am not a fan of this style of shoe but it looks classy, if not very similar to the previous model

Not really my cup of tea - The fit of UA shoes hasn’t been great for me in the past

I’ve liked them all so far, they are just out of my (my wife’s) price range. These look clean and I’d definitely game them, but assuming they’ll be too pricey for me like in years past.

These look CLEAN. I’d toss them into rotation for good weather days but it will come down to fit and price.

I'm sure they'll sell, but not for me.

They've been too pricy in the past, with spike issues (Puma ain't the only one)

JJ Rivet is a smart man, and the whole concept of allowing you to use your whole foot works (if your hip supports it), I like the new heel counter (hopefully it actually does something instead of looking like it does something), but the value just isn't there

Spieth One - 16oz
Spieth 2 - 14.4oz
Spieth 3 - 13oz (for comparison my Skechers Focus spikes are 13.8oz with the stock insole, but still pales in comparison to something like my New Balance Minimus which is 9-10oz)

UA is my go to for tops, bottoms, and pullovers, but for some reason I look at their shoes in the same breath as Skechers (sorry Skechers fans). I really need to give them a try. I loved those Spieth 2 USA's last year and I am starting to see them discounted. If I can get a pair for less than a bill I will probably do it.

I have never tried UA shoes, but they look good and I like light shoes for walking.

Are Jordan's rounds now hitting the 10 hour mark? Haha

Seriously, I like the look of the shoes. Keeping the microfiber outer somewhat clean without a ton of maintenance would be my biggest concern. I do like the lighter weight for walking.

Ehhh, if someone gave me a pair I'd wear em but not something I'd be looking to buy

I like em, but I don't see enough there to make me give up my trusty Vapors and DryJoys Tour.

Same. I had the One Drive shoe. While I loved the stability, they were brutal for any extended walking. Pushed me to 100% spikeless now.

I love the looks of the 2's and picked up a pair on sale last year but these don't do much for me. It's good to see they reduced the weight a bit.

I absolutely love these. If I hadn’t already bought my shoes for the year, I’d be all over these.

Have always thought his UA's look better in person than they do in pictures for some reason.

I like the clean/classic look. I've never tried their shoes before.

I'm in the market this year for a new pair of shoes. We walked 21 holes last Sunday and my feet killed for 2 days following. I need something based more on comfort rather than performance.

The look nice, not sure if they'll fit my foot as they seem really thin but I'll keep an eye out

Get an adidas shoe with some boost in it, they are super plush. PLus they have the wide fitting options online

I really like those, and I think the price is justified, but it's over any amount I'd spend for shoes.

Just got a notice I won a pair through golf digest IG contest anyone have these how they fit, more specifically for wider feet/higher arch?

Past versions have not been good for wider feet. The toe box was a bit narrow.

Did they offer a wide? There is one for the 3, but if the wife's weren't actually wide on the 2 then would still be uncomfortable
