I have a flat sole'd center shafted mallet putter, that I like to putt with indoors on a mat.
I've always like the idea of a flat "area" on the bottom of the putter as a compromise to use golfing.
Greens are like mile sections on a city grid... Not flat, not by a mile, but close enough we don't have to stand in a puddle if we're going to cry about it.
Most blade style putters off the rack have a rounded or arc bottom, and that make sense.
What does your putter have? Is your toe high or low (or does it matter if you're hitting the sweet spot)? Does your putter even touch the ground when you begin your stroke?
Just curious, I've debated myself without reaching a judgement.
