THP Regional Rivalry - DC/MD/VA vs Carolinas Sponsored By True Temper

Depends? Yankees and Giants? Then yes, definitely.

technincally only one of those teams is NY and nothing wrong with rooting for the Yankees...

So there was a thread that talked about whether or not we'd prep differently if we got into a THP event. I responded that my goals were my goals regardless of whether or not I achieved entry into any events.

I'd like to amend that. Weighed myself today and almost topped 190 on the scale. That is unfreaking acceptable. So ... in addition to my golf goals, I plan on hitting the healthy eating train seriously hard. I'm going to say goodbye to diet soda , fast food, and junk food. Going to turn back to more lean protein and lots of vegetables ... as well as a healthy breakfast to keep me from hitting Dunkin Donuts every morning. I imagine I'm going to be a total richard for a few days, but that will pass ... hopefully. I want to lose a good 20-30 pounds or so, as much for me as for my kiddo. I imagine it'd be good to stick around for awhile, ya know?

In addition to my regular walking with my push cart on the golf course, I'll also be adding a couple of miles a day in walking ... maybe during lunch, maybe after work. Yeah, this isn't going to be easy is it?

Never is and the older you get the more difficult it becomes (For me at least!) Good Luck!

I want to be supportive through this process so let me help you with the bold part and link you to here http://www.thehackersparadise.com/forum/showthread.php?76850-The-Official-Rant-of-the-Day

Seriously though good luck on your journey. I am trying to get down to 210 myself started at 240 got down to 220 in a month or so but have put a good bit back on due to work trips. The lifestyle adjustment takes time to stick but I know you will knock it out of the park

Ok.. My name is Andy Mashaw. I am 39, have been married for 9 years, we have one daughter who is 6. I currently have 3 jobs. The main gig is as media production specialist for Norfolk Fire Rescue (making training videos, PSA's, whatever else is needed). Job 2 is part time radio broadcaster for Old Dominion University (class of 99') I am the color analyst for football, broadcast baseball, and occasionally fill in for basketball. Job 3 is a once a week high school highlight show on Cox cable. They are all great jobs but none of them pay very much; which does limit golf time.

I'm a native Virginian, have always lived around the Tidewater / Hampton Roads area. Though I have traveled a lot through broadcasting.

I started playing golf when I was 7... and it has fought me all the way :D. I am currently just under a 24. But am reaching toward being under 20 by summer. I have broken 90 twice (once at a course I'd never seen before). This will be my first THP event and I am stoked. None of my friends really play golf, so I've never had "golf buddies", it's always been me vs. myself and the course. I don't have a lot of experience with the social aspect of the sport, posting on THP IS social golf for me, meeting people in person will be new. I've competed in pretty much every organized sport you could think of; football mostly when I was younger, but also a surprising amount of hockey for a southern Virginian after college.

I am really looking forward to this, and to all the prep work I now have an excuse to do leading up to it.

Good to see everyone introducing themselves I know many of you but some I do not so always good to get to know a person a bit more.

Before I get into mine I just want to say thank you to everyone in both regions so far this has been an amazing process that will just continue to be awesome because of you guys. Kevin you know I love you like a brother and respect the hell out of you and I couldn't ask to share this with a better person. That said if you want to throw in the towel now I understand because we all know the end result of this one. :)

Now onto my little Blurb. My name is Ron Bolt I am 28 and living in Raleigh NC. I have been married for 5 years now we currently have no kids but 2 dogs that we treat as our kids. I am a 911 Systems Technician/Engineer/Project manager (I wear a lot of hats). I love my job and it keeps me on my toes daily (and sometimes nightly ugh). With that said I work a LARGE amount of hours so I cant practice the amount that I would like however I get out a few times a week and this event will drive me even harder. I am currently a 12.3 and trending up the last few weeks as I have hit a bit of a slump recently. I set no goals handicap wise for events I just want to play the best I can any given day and that is all I can ask of myself.

Originally I am from Buffalo NY. I spent my first 18 years there before moving to Binghamton area for a few years. My wife and I have been in Raleigh for four years now. She is originally from Charlotte but I am indeed a damn Yankee with no thoughts of leaving anytime soon.

So...I thought the bag was set and I was done making changes.

Just bought a set of Mizuno MP-4s. Why not, right?

All stock, 3-PW, TT DG S300. Should be here this week, so I can hopefully get some practice with them before the season gets in full swing and before Tot Hill. I'll have a set of 2014 Apex Pros for sale soon, if anyone is interested.

i hope to see great coverage and play by play for this event :). I just downloaded that Gamebook app and hope its a great tool to keep up with you guys! Best of luck to both teams but here's to bring the 'chip to the Carolinas!

Event question: what is the policy on spectators, as well as everyone's feelings about them? My parents mentioned that they might be up that way this summer and may want to attend. I don't believe they would want to attend the awards and dinner.

One of the downsides as a Windows Phone user ... no app. Going to try to get a handle on using it through the website ... we'll see if it's easy or enough to get me to rip my hair out.

ETA: Yeah, it'll make me lose my religion. I log on with my phone and it says "For best use, use from a desktop" or something of that nature. Thinking that it's going to be hard to drag my desktop onto the course. Not sure I have a cable long enough ... hope my teammate has an iPhone! He can update GameBook, I can THP update/Twitter/Instagram.

I downloaded Gamebook and periscope, now I need to learn to use them!!

Congrats to the choices. I am a little disappointed but I know all will play hard and represent their regions well. Even though I didn't make the cut, it isn't stoping me from finishing what I started thanks to the Regional Rivalry!

Giants, Mets, Rangers. Couldn't care less about the Knicks right now.

Is that a JetSpeed Driver? I had one for a while, should have kept it!

Still have mine. Telling myself it's ok to part with it ... with the Cobra F6 in the bag, and my Ping K15 waiting in the wings should it be needed, and my Cleveland Custom XL in my backup bag ... do I really need a fourth driver? LOL

I love the sound of it though.

Mets, Jets, Islanders here ... at least you got one of the teams correct! ha ha ha

I gave up on the Knicks when John Starks couldn't help Ewing finish off the Houston Rockets. Oh for freaking eleven from beyond the arc. Oh for freaking eleven!

Unfortunately due to the small size and single day part of this event, spectators would not be able to join us out on the course. Sorry about that. While we have THP Events where that has not been an issue, this one is probably not the best for an appearance.

Guys,
Lets try to keep this about the course, event, regions, etc.
Lets keep the sports talk from other regions, and equipment talk to the appropriate places. Thanks.

Wonder what this could be. Find out in a few days when it gets to Kevin

If you pooped in a box and sent it, it would be the greatest item sent ever.
Although I love T2GRN, so I dont want that to happen to him...I can think of a few I should do it too though.
I once sent a fellow captain Tampons.

I respect Kevin to much for the ole poop in a box trick. Truly I like his wife to much to do that to her as well since she would have to deal with it just as much.
That said I know a few that should get it as well.

Wish I would have been around for the tampons would have got a kick out of that.
