Swing Video - All Comments/Helpful Criticism Welcome!

I took a couple of slow motion videos at the range today when using my 8 iron. I apologize for the shaking and noise, it was pretty windy here today and I had my phone on a tripod wrapped around an alignment stick.

The video quality is quite good. Im far far from an expert but that looks pretty damn good. I dont know if it was the angle but a hair more forward with the hands might stop mixing in a tiny fat/thin every now and then? Splitting hairs though. Oh to be 30 years younger/flexible! Those shoes looks pretty comfy. Might have to look into some of those.

Thanks for the input, Mr 3! I did hit some thin and some fat on more than one occasion today, so I'll be sure to give that a try next time on the range

As for the shoes, today was actually the first day I wore them so I'm not able to speak on any long-term comfortability. But they did feel really good today and had great traction on full swings.

Thanks Snicker! I've heard a lot of good things about him, so I definitely wouldn't mind that.

Smooth looking swing! Perhaps it's the angle, but you appeared to be pretty far away from the ball when using your iron. It doesn't look like it affected your ability to strike the ball clean though!

Looks good to me. Only notes:

It looks like you are playing two different grips, strong with your lead and neutral with your trail. Getting thos in sync would probably get you more conistent, from a removing a variable point of view. It also looks like you are holding on pretty tightly, loosening it up can help.

It appears you are a little back in your stance and in your swing. A little more neutral at setup and a little more forward at impact would increase power.

I think you could get your hands a bit more in front of the ball at impact, and again that would help power.

All this being said, it is a nice swing and I am betting you score well with it. I only make the points above, since you asked.

Thanks for the compliment and notes, MAR! Yeah my setup was a little farther from the ball than I'm used to. The irons are new for me and are 1.5 flat from Mizuno standard but 3 flat from my old Taylormade irons. The first time I hit them at the range, I was hitting everything toward the heel of the club. So with this session, I was trying to set up with the ball toward the toe of the club and try to make better contact on the center of the face. I was hitting away from the heel but more toward the toe, so I need to keep toying with them and figure out the right distance from the ball for me!

Much appreciated to you as well for taking the time for the notes, Millsan! I've always wondered how my grip was compared to "ideal," and is something I've been working on and will definitely try to make each hand more consistent next time I'm on the range. I'll also try transferring my weight forward more during the swing along with my hands as well, and see how that translates to being a little more efficient. Extra yards never hurt anyone lol

Solid move and setup. Check your ball position, itll stop the thin/fat shots. The club fave is a bit shut at address which could cause it to be shut at impact. Just make sure its square at address.

Now a bigger fix will be to create more space on the back swing. Keep the club head low as long as possible on the way back. This will add width to your swing and get that lead arm in front of you.
