Backyard hitting bay recommendations for net and mat?

So Iíve started the process of clearing an area to add in a small hitting net and range mat. Ideally I am going to keep it simple dirt base covered in peastone, basic range mat and net decent enough to keep outside in. the elements. Bonus points if itís enclosed enough where the kids could also hit baseballs off a tee into it as well. It will also be facing a neighbors house, so it has to be strong enough where I can hit driver without worrying about blasting through it into my neighbors siding. Trying to keep it under 500$. Just something simple to get some range time in. Any feedback or photos or home builds welcome.

My only recommendation is to be careful that you are not just mindlessly hitting balls. I had a net in my basement long ago and hit about 1000 balls a week into it for four months. When spring came I had developed a nasty hook that took me a week or two to get rid of. I was a plus index at the time and thought I was striping it for 5 months and boy was I wrong. A putting green in the basement may be a bigger benefit if your goal is lower scores. Hitting into a net can certainly be a benefit especially if combined with something like a swing fan and/or a SuperSpeed training system.

After playing indoors all season on a sim i am definitely well aware that results wonít reflect real world improvement. Iím just more looking at is a way to keep loose and also not have the kids dig up the lawn with their interest in golf also. Also save my car from any more future dents.

$500 might be pushing the budget if you want something to last, but take a look at west coast netting for a cage.

For a mat go to a driving range or course and see if you can buy one used.

This one actually looks pretty good if I can find a decently priced outdoor mat. This was about the size I was thinking. Just have to buy the steel conduit at Home Depot
