Kids golf clubs ... Where to start

My boy just started golf... He needs clubs but I have no clue where to begin.

Can I cut down /re-shaft my old set ?

Do I just buy a cheap set, will he outgrow them quickly?

You'd think I'd know this stuff but I have no idea.

Definitely don’t want to cut down an old set. Weighting will be all kinds of off.

I picked up a set for my daughter for a little over $100. Nothing fancy but it will do the trick. Check on amazon.

US Kids makes some good stuff, but it’s a bit pricey if you’re not sure if your son is going to be into it.

I used US Kids for mine because they had a trade up when they grew. That was 15 years ago, but you could check. It was easy for me as my club in Va carrried them and I wold trade him up and he grew.

US kids is your best bet. The clubs are based on height so my suggestion is to buy the next height color / category so they last longer. They can always grip down and eventually grow into the set. Approximately $250 per set with bag and 7 clubs but I've found them discounted at my local golf stores.

US kids is great. And the clubs are a nice quality. Honestly I’d also check for used. Craigslist or whatever your local trade swap site is. Maybe start with that and see if the kids like it. Works for us in the beginning.

I'll be interested to read the responses here too. My daughter is at least a year away from this, but she's already showing interest with the Ping Putter I got her. Dad can dream I guess.

This one is really bugging me now. It's odd but it's hard to make the right decision.

My entrepreneur head is saying there should be a "rent/swap" market for kids clubs. It SHOULD be easy, but I feel its too hard.

I don't wanna pay good money for something til I know he's gonna keep playing, but I want to give him the best chance to play well.

I can see this being a turn-off/blocker for many parents
