Ball Below the Feet

Seems like I have gotten into the horrible habit of shanking when the ball is below my feet. Yesterday I almost hit a playing partner who was to my right. Ugh. Is it just a matter of setting up further away? Any insights as to why this happens and what to do about it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Stand a little taller, raise your handle height and hope you hit it decent

Easy to shank from that lie since the tendency is to reach for the ball and/or let gravity pull you towards the ball. Make sure you keep your posture, play the ball a little back in your stance, keep the swing short, and allow for the ball to fade. Tricky lie for sure.
