Cut Blue DC Golf Balls

It may be the lighting but do the balls seem a little off white to you? I’ll do some comparisons here shortly but I’m either on to something or in need of an eye exam.

Hmmmmm, hadn’t noticed, but I also haven’t had them in the sunlight outdoors yet. I’ll try to take some shots tomorrow on the course next to a few others like TM and Bstone I normally play.

Here is a photo of the Cut Blue and the “gold standard” of balls, a 2019 Pro V1. I would agree that the Cut ball is a little off white, but it doesn’t put me off in any way.

Tenputt with the quick photo - winner!

Agreed it doesn’t bother me either. Just something I noticed.

Almost a cream color than white

Interesting because I thought the same thing. Here is the CB DC vs. XV.

So put these in play today. Of course my swing was hot garbage but I feel like I got a good start on how this ball will perform.

Had some great drives today with Driver and 3w. I think @Jman will find these have a little more Tee spin vs. other “X” category balls. (I’m assuming these are designed to compete with based on the 4 layers, high compression and Red Numbers) While I had some long drives I had my worst FIR round in quite sometime.

Off the Irons, the balls was fine and match distances with other balls that I played. When I hit them flush, they felt great.

They must be good of the wedges as I had 5-1 putt pars, which was a personal best. They have plenty of spin off my wedges.

The CB DC felt fine off the putter. No different from other balls that I’ve put into play.

I hit a couple of cart paths today and the ball came off with out a mark so it can take some beating up however I beat it up enough throughout the round that it was no longer usable for a 2nd round.

There must be something about this ball that I’m struggling with because My Cartner, who I play with every Sunday, said to me today at the 17th hole “I can tell that you don’t like that ball”. I didn’t think I really showed my conflict with this ball but maybe I did.
I said “I just struggling today and I don’t want my Swing affect my review”.

Here’s a dilemma I have with the ball that maybe showed in my expressions today (I hope some people will appreciate my honesty). Cut Golf admits that are not necessarily bringing “Ground Breaking Technology” to market but bringing “Current Technology at a better value”, however at $29.95 a dozen, is this ball a real value if they do everything that a Z-Star XV does? Do I look to compare this ball to a Z-Star XV at $39.95 or when they go on sale for 2dz for $40 or $20.00 a dozen? Is that even fair?

I’ll be putting these in play and I’ll report my feedback however I wanted to get my initial thoughts out there.

I received my Cut Blue DC balls on Saturday, and was able to take them out for some practice yesterday. Like others have mentioned, I noticed the color. Not as bright a white as others, but still, I think the look overall is good.

I was able to get in some wedge practice with these, anywhere from chipping around the green, to 100 yds out. The feel is what I would expect it to be; a little bit harder than the Snell Black I usually play, and more in line with the MTB-X, which I have also tried out. Personally I like the softer feel of the Black, so the Cut Blue DC might not be as good there for me personally, but I still had no real issues with it. I was able to putt some with it as well. Like Molten mentioned, the alignment aid is pretty large, and filled in. I personally really like this feature. It gives me more to line up with my target, and when I roll it I can see how I hit it based on the large alignment aid. The feel was good, and I couldn't tell a huge difference between the Snell Black and the Cut Blue DC.

The big question to me is, it is worth it $ wise. That's what I'm hoping to answer from this test. Performance and durability are going to be key. I can't wait to get these out for a round to see how they hold up!

Good initial thoughts gents. I’m hoping to add to the fray this evening.

I played these for 9 holes in St. Louis and really enjoyed the irons and wedge action I saw from them. I was not noticing much difference in that area of my game from the balls I normally play. Around the greens it has some solid action to it. I watched Danny from UST spin the ever loving **** out of it from a tough lie green side in our shamble match.

So, I put 54 holes on ONE golf ball today.

Going to eat, do some housework, then snap some pics later and post some thoughts.

Two things immediately jump to mind. 1) That’s incredible. 2) show me photos of what the durability looks like after that beating!

Hahaha, rocking one of the twins to sleep now, as soon as I’m done I’ll snap some.

It looks like it played 54. I’ll also add, it hit no trees, paths, or rocks today. Some interesting wear.

Ask and ye shall receive. Performance thoughts will go up here in a bit, but now, pics.

Cut Blue DC Golf Balls

Not sure if I’m more impressed with your ability to keep the same ball in play for 3 rounds or with your photography skills.

Anyways it looks a bit roughed up, but I’m not used to seeing the same ball after 54 holes to be able to compare. Knowing your gamer is the TP5 or TP5x how does this compare?

Think after Round 1 it was Hi-Toe Raw Wedges:1 Cut Blue DC:0

Hi Toe was only used greenside. No full swings, or half for that matter, so new grooves can’t be attributed this time.

I couldn’t get to the real golf course so I did the next best thing - got some Quad data.

Here is the good news: I saw the spin numbers I crave in my short irons:

8 iron was launching around 22-23* with a high ball flight and spin at 7000. For example:

On the 52 and 56 degree wedges, I saw spin over 10000 rpm on full shots.

Ball speed was as expected and plenty fast enough for what I’d expect to see.

Here is the bad: durability and durability.

I used a single ball for each round and maybe ten warm up swings before each. The cutting of the cover is pretty noticeable and caused me to take the balls out of rotation. I’ll try to get better photos when I’m near some better lighting and a setup but here is one example:

I counted 6 pretty substantial tears total across both balls.

I believe that if I played 54 holes in one day in summer heat, I would look pretty much like the ball. I bow down to your greatness.

not horrible and maybe a little better than I expected after 1 round. As has been said, I'm not sure i've ever seen a ball after 54 straight holes, so that's kind of a moot point to me.

Wow, I did not experience those tears, @Molten. I am a little surprised. What iron were you hitting with the numbers posted?

8 iron I believe he said in there, well, or the wedges I just saw that part! Haha

Thanks. Don’t know how I missed that.

@Molten - With that kind of spin off of a wedge and 8 iron, surely you would have no problem stopping your mid irons.

Different iron used than you were expecting.

I’m guessing it was the full wedge shots but I can’t be sure yet.
