Modern Golf Ball and Shot Shapes Preference

I was watching some coverage of the golf tournament today and they were talking about how the modern golf ball was so low spinning. They thought that’s the reason so many players are now choosing to play the fade instead of the draw.

What do you all think? Is the modern golf ball the biggest factor in more people, and not just on tour, choosing to embrace the fade? I personally didn’t really play much, if any, before the urethane cover and modern cores became a thing, so I’m really just curious if there’s anything to their theory.

The modern ball is definitely harder to 'work'.
I have only come here seeking knowledge
That they would not teach me of in college

I think TV announcers talk to much, eventually they just start making word noises with no regard to what the noises mean.

No I think players play a shot shape that works for them, I don’t think the ball matter much.

You can talk to a Fade , but a Hook won’t listen...

Yea. That's why I play a "fade". Okay - "power fade"...

In all seriousness, my coach has worked with me for the last couple of years changing my ball flight to a fade but for different reasons - fades land softer (maybe not the correct terminology but I can control it better than a draw). My big miss was a hook and there was so much spin on it that it inevitably hit the ground and ran into trouble. At least with a miss on a fade, I'm not as concerned with the ball running out into trouble.

The ball has nothing to do with shot shape choice from my perspective, regardless of spin changes its still a question of degree of shape. A draw still draws. A fade still fades. And TBH, in not that dis-similar amounts to what I remember 30 years ago. Palmer played a fade. Nicklaus played a fade. Trevino played a fade. Norman played a fade. Davis Love. Fred Couples. The fade is tough to beat.
