I typically overswing and end up with a flying elbow. Would choking down an inch or two shorten the swing and be a good fix?

This is one way I use to keep from overswinging when I know I am doing it. Have you tried just practicing at what "feels" like a 50% swing? I do that but I actually end up in a good spot at top which is more than 50% but not overswinging if that makes sense.

The length of the club really doesn’t play into an overswing. Chocking down will shorten your distance but your swing will remain long. The only fix is to shorten your swing.

Place a towel under your right arm, about the center of your bicep. Keep that towel in place to prevent the flying elbow and you will see a shorter swing.
