It doesn't get any more legendary on the PGA Tour than the JOHN DEERE CLASSIC. Luke Donald, Jason Dufner, Zach Johnson, Charles Howell III and others in the field. Also, 2 of my favorites will give it a go to snatch that 1st victory - Harold Varner 3 and Sam Saunders

I went once... got to watch Stuart Appleby rifle an approach shot off a branch, across the fairway, OB... it was a good time

The only good thing is that guys like Wolff, Hovland, etc all have a chance to win (win again) and create a larger story than what most likely would have happened. Reminds me a bit of early Spieth.
Not one player in the top 50 of the OWGR is in this event with Kevin Na WDing from the event. It's the weakest full-field event by far this year. It's great for the young guys, but apart from them, this is a glorified Korn Ferry Tour event.

The Rocket Mortgage and 3M both exceeded my expectations. Hopefully the John Deere will too. Somehow I’m feeling that Zach Johnson is going to contend this week.

Adam Long throws down a sweet little 64 to grab the early lead at the JD.

Russell Henley matches the 64 Long put up; with 58 players shooting 3 under or better it looks like we're headed for another birdie-fest.

Reality is there prob won’t be much convo on this one. Horribly weak field, and the Scottish is greatly outshining it imo.

That said, I’ll be in here. Haha

The Scottish Open has shot itself in the foot this year. Having held it at Loch Lomond , the most unlinks American style course in Scotland for a number of years, they finally listened to the players and moved it to Gullane, a true links near Muirfield so the players could play links golf before the Open. This year they have followed the money to a new club with plenty of dosh, and no links holes at all. A member of our club played it last month and described it as bland and boring.

If you want to play an American style course, no one does it better than the Americans.
The problem with playing with seniors is that half of them did not see where your ball went, and the other half can not remember.

Renaissance isn't boring at all, it's not pure links but it is definitely inspired by it, the fairways are fast and lumpy bumpy. Archerfield is next door and that isn't 'links' per se but it felt very coastal playing it

The cut at 6 under is not helping its cause....

I can’t imagine the cut line will creep that low.
