I appreciate everyone commenting. I think I tend to try to swing too hard at everything so I'm going to try to slow down and think about getting a few lessons. Thanks again everybody!

Welcome to the site.

Most of my topped shots were a combination of leaning back on the take away which moves your swing arc farther back on the ball, trying to swing way too hard, not looking at the ball through impact, and improper ball placement in the stance. Any downhill lie would increase my chances of topping the ball. You need to be adjust so you are leaning with the incline all the way through impact. That is the hard part because the tendency is to stand back up somewhere in the swing. Too much club can lead to problems with that scenario too.

By all means, slow things down and you will be better off in the long run. The topped shots will slowly decrease and the your game will only get better because of it.

I would like to know the magic secret to this too. I can shoot low 80's and still tip a few per round....
