Pace of play - walking versus riding

My foursome today played in 3:45, all of us walking, with one guy losing at least 12 balls, playing provisionals, and all of us in the desert multiple times today. Would a cart have shortened the time? Not a chance.

We walked yesterday, 3 of us. We actually caught the threesome ahead of us who where in carts and they where 1 1/2 holes ahead of us when we teed off on #1. They where kind enough to let us play thru. They where not playing badly, just very slowly.
 
I can walk my very hilly course in under 3 hours as a foursome. Riding I can do it in 2.5 hours with the same foursome.
 
In the end for me, I can't play Cart 18 as a solo in 2.5 hours, I can walk the same in 3 hours. This is on a non-walking friendly course. I would dare say that I can keep a similar if not faster pace walking.

I played the other day as a walker with a pair on cart, I kept pace with them without any real effort.
