Wilson Staff C200 Irons Review Thread

Well as you know im a big fan of the 545s across the board. But i think these are superior to those
Shut. Up!!
Damn high praise, there.

I know a lot of people loved the original Apex's... Granted these might be geared for a different crowd, but I found these leaps and bounds more forgiving.

Excellent info. I was leaning toward XR Pro's due to the stock shaft (KBS 90) and less offset, but they probably have just lost!!!

Thanks!!

Sanzabar, Rusty Casino and Duece really good reviews. I had a chance to hit these on the range a couple months ago at a local outing. My swimg was a little wonky at the time. I hit a 7i and the first thing I didn't notice is the top line and the holes. It wasn't until after I took my first swing and looked at them again did I see the holes. Regarding ball flight I saw a high penetrating flight, I was playing DFs and z545s at the time and without numbers I'm not sure how much extra distance I was getting but i would guess it was in that 1 club range. I didn't get to put them to use on the course because Molten was in my group and we have completely different specs but the irons JohnSinVA had were close to what I would use.

Looking forward to the rest of the reviews from everyone and between these and what we have seen from the F5 reviews W/S has some good stuff going on

If i recall they carried the d100 line in their stores right so man i hope they have these...if those its a steal at the price u will get

Not around me they didn't unfortunately but if I have to make some side trips while on the road for meetings, you know I will!!

Good reviews guys, hopefully Wilson can marry the product with a good marketing campaign to gain some traction with this release.

They are definitely on the right course. Tim Clarke talked about this at #staffproto. As their W/S line increases look for less of the Walmart specials.

They will be a major player again. Guaranteed.

Blind buy it man u wont be mad

You guys are knocking the reviews out of the park & it makes me happy to see W/S irons actually getting some excitement & buzz in the golf world.

Observations/Questions from the reviews so far:
- I was worried that the power holes would be more distracting. Glad to hear that's not the case.
- Any mention of what custom shafts would be available?
- High launch is great for the guys that need it, but were any of you able to keep the ball low on command?
- With such high ball flight, what is the descent angle like?

Once again, great reviews!

I think my father is going to do this very thing. He saw me working on the computer on some stuff about this set and has literally asked me every other week since September about these.

Some great reviews so far guys. It's been a while since I have games W/S irons, but it sounds like these are impressing everyone so far.

Also forgot to ask, who at W/S came up with the idea & how did they decide on placement, shape, size & number of the power holes?

I agree here. All that I'm reading tells me Wilson has done their homework and has a product that can be a game changer for a lot of golfers the irons are targeted for.

More options across the board are good and I hope these get into golfers hands.

I played in windy conditions a couple of times and had no problems flighting the ball down.

Working on getting some answers to a couple other questions.

Vrska said custom shafts will be available from day 1 of ordering the C200.

Looks like Wilson has hit a home run with these, great job with initial thoughts guys. There's only one small shop in my area that is big into W/S and when I asked him about these at around the time after #StaffProto he said these irons were the truth.

Not gonna lie. When they showed the computer generated images of the urons i thought that top line was going to be all kinds of blah.

Then they passed the irons around and i still thought the same thing.

Then i took seings with them and didnt even notice.
Feel the same way. Saw the images, knew what I was in for. Thought they would be a problem to my eye. I swung yours and I didn't even notice them. What I did notice was how great the performance was and how much I liked the feel with that graphite shaft.

These look like a really nice progression from the C100's. I'm eager to try these out, especially in the 4,5,6 irons where I'm notoriously lousy.

Not that it matters, but the name "power holes" is a bit funny to me hehe.

I was just as surprised as you were at the staff outing. The top line really seems to disappear at address, and the ball really jumps off the face with a strong ball flight.

When you coming to the Okanagan? You can play mine!

Great!

And how awesome is it that you just asked & he answered in minutes!

Yup. They are a dynamite R&D team at W/S.
He might try to get on later to answer some of the questions we can't answer.

You seem to be forgetting the giant white blanket of snow up there. We are usually up there for Easter weekend and I believe that's usually right around when the courses open up again.

THe better question is when are you going to be down here?

Back on topic though: I wonder if anyone can do a size comparison with the C100, APEX CF16, AP1 or something like that?

I will be over the moon if these land in GolfSmith - not only will I be able to have a true head to head comparison with my D100s to see distance and dispersion, I also have at least $200 in gift certs I can potentially use towards these.

You'll see this at your local Golfsmiths later this month. Demos as well
