    Pure Shot Driver Training Aid

This just arrived at THP HQ and it is interesting to say the least. It is a driver training aid from ExcitoGolf. As I mention in the video, their website seems to be not quite all ready to go as of yet, so if you check it out, you will see some information that may or may not be real. However the product itself is featured in the video section and gallery section of the site for more pictures if you want to check that out.

That is very interesting looking and a unique concept. Look forward to hearing how it actually works and what happens when the sweet spot is missed.

BTW - the word you were looking for was convex.

I was going to say something about Ellie before you even mentioned; she looked to be having fun there!!

Question for some. Wouldnt this really be shaft dependent? Meaning by training through repetition with this product to hit a smaller target on the face, then picking up a shaft that might have completely different properties, couldnt more issues arise?

That is a very unique concept there. I think in theory it will work. It is sorta like the Tour Striker, but for driving.

Very good point...with different flexes and kick points, etc I could definitely see that being an issue. Guess I need to see a description of how it is supposed to work to know just how much of an issue it may be. Have the URL to their site? Did a quick search and nothing immediately showed up that I thought was this product.

Too many issues. Droop, flex, and torque are all super dependent.

Like I said in the video, the site is obviously not officially set up yet.

That is my thought with it. I understand it with a steel shaft because the variances appear less. But with driver shafts, I would think that it could become a real issue for people.
I guess that is why we will have a forum testing though.

Interesting concept. Will be interesting to see how it works though. Especially with the variety of Drivers on the market, with variable forgiveness and sweet spots.

In theory, it could get you to put a better swing on the ball with THAT club, but when you change drivers, shafts, etc, it seems as if it will throw you off.

Pretty interesting, almost more for eye/hand coordination training, but again it might become an issue when returning to your regular shaft. With the expanding sweet spots in most driver faces today, I think what I need is more of a swing/shift trainer than a sweet spot aid. But, hope this works out.

I would agree with JB, with all the shaft options, and differences out there, that the results of the Pure Shot may not translate to the course. Granted being able to change out to any shaft would make it really expensive for those gaming 200+$ shafts.

Thanks for the URL JB. Looks like the intent from a quick peek is to over-exaggerate the result from a ball hit anywhere except on the sweet spot. While that is good with that club because it could perhaps get a golfer more feedback to their specific misses I immediately not only have issues from what you said about the shaft but also what the club is teaching. It seems to be telling you that if you hit it off the toe you will have a slice. For me a toe shot is typically a shorter drive with a slight draw.

Even looking past the ball flight issue, as you inferred to, I still have issues with how hitting the sweet spot on this club translates to your driver. What if shafts are different lengths (plus the issues you and Thainer brought up). Always up for something opening my eyes though!!

I am a bit skeptical about this one. I am looking forward to the feedback.
