While in Memphis with True Temper, we have been able to try some delicious places. This thread will be about Memphis Food.

Memphis has a lot of donut places. Gibbons appears to be the most famous.

Im hungry, and know my lunch will not even come CLOSE to Gus's

Should never have opened this torture thread

I want all of this.

The folks who have the chance to play in the Regional Rivalry should be especially interested in this thread with the MVP on the line.

I don't know how many Memphis area members we have here, but Memphis BBQ discussion will probably have several different fav's just like the KC battle did.

I used to travel to Memphis 2 times a year for several years. I never made it to Central (that picture looks damn good!!) but a couple of my favorites were Rendezvous and Porky's.

We went to just about all the famous BBQ places when we were there. Central BBQ was the best and it wasn't even close for us. Damn that place is great - I need some now.

Send me there. Please. All of that looks delicious.

I need some ribs now

That BBQ looks amazing.

Don't need lunch anymore today. Wow

Memphis, but its really close. Joe's is very good.
There is a place in St Louis called Pappy's that is pretty darn close too.

I'd give you a thumbs up, but I love KC Joe's BBQ....sorry. ha ha ha

Oh oh my. I need some Memphis food. Can we go there later in the year when we visit True Temper?

Pappys and OKie Joes are the two best I've ever had. I am partial to the KC style though

I really liked Stax-Volt music and the studio's house band when I was a kid.

Wayne Jackson and Ben Cauley on trumpets,
Fred Wesley on trombone,
Robert Holloway on alto saxophone,
Andrew Love and Packy Axton on tenor saxophones,
Floyd Newman on baritone saxophone,
Isaac Hayes on piano,
Booker T. Jones on organ,
Steve Cropper on guitar,
Duck Dunn on bass,
and Al Jackson on drums....
accompanying some pretty good singers like Otis Redding and Carla Thomas and Sam and Dave.

That's about all that I know about Memphis, though.

I think that I'd like the food as well.
We had a juke joint with great soul food up our way but sadly, it didn't really catch on. It's just another seafood place, now.
