2012 RBZ Tour or 2013 Rocketballz Stage 2

    Greetings.

I have a dilemna I need some help with. I am going to finally replace my old TaylorMade Firesole 3 wood with a new Rocketballz, but I am not sure which way to go.

    Option 1 - 2012 Rocketballz RBZ Tour 14.5*
    Option 2 - 2013 Rocketballz Stage 2 15*

I don't really know the differences between the two of them and not sure if the Stage 2 is worth the extra $$. Anyone have an opinion or comment to make on the subject?

    Much appreciated.

First off Welcome to THP! Head over to the check in desk and introduce your self!

Funny you should mention this because THP is in the process of sending out RBZ Stage 2 FW to forum members to be tested. Just one of many awesome perks here, so before long you will be able to read excellent reviews. I am sure there is a thread already about the 2012 RBZ FW.

I have not hit the Stage 2, but I own the original. You really need to hit the clubs and compare your findings.

Also, I wouldn't limit myself to just those two clubs.

A full home page review on the Stage 2 should be coming up shortly, plus we'll be starting forum testing on it very soon as well.

I like the Stage 2 better than the RBZ from last year because of the size and face depth differences. The Stage 2 is much easier to hit off the fairway and even longer than last year's (for me).

    Oh and welcome to THP!

Welcome to THP! Look the 2012 version of the RBZ's. Have a bad full of them and they have really helped my game.

If you want a better FM of the ground, go stage 2. If you want a better FM off the tee, go last years. At least thats how I see it.

    Welcome to the forum!

You really do need to hit them yourself. But that caveat aside, my recollection of the RBZ Tour was that I didn't like the shaft at all and I couldn't hit it. I liked the Stage 2 when I recently hit it. It is possible the RBZ Tour would work great for you as is, or comparable to the Stage 2 with a different shaft, etc., which is why it is so valuable to hit them ourselves.

Lots of good advice in here. Like others have said, stayed tuned for the testing forum which should be up soon. I am lucky enough to have been chosen to test the Stage 2 and also own the original RBZ tour so I will be looking to what changes have been made.

from what I am hearing, the stage 2 is much better than the 2012. That being said, I have heard of people not liking the stage 2 off the deck. More so off the tee. The 2012 was/is a better all around. But off the tee, the stage 2 wins out. so, I think it depends on ones game and needs.

I have a 13* & 18* tour from last year and a 14.5* tour stage 2 I fined that the Stage 2 is much esaier to off of the deck due to the slightly shallower face and flatter sole off of the tee the 14.5* stage 2 and 13* were the same distance

I did like the Xcon from last yr tour much better than the rocketfuel

As others have said, the stage 2 FWs have been sent out to members for review. I happen to be one of the lucky testers. I'm sure that within a week or so people will start writing. But you do need to hit them for yourself.

I have the 2012 tour 3 and tested the stage 2 in store. My tour 3 is my favorite club in the bag and based on what I felt and saw on the monitor, I didn't even consider upgrading.
