Who's ya caddy?
I just want to share an extraordinary shot that I witnessed last week.
Based on a comment of another thread, some of you might remember I played in an ambrose competition last week with 3 very good single markers.
There were the usual prizes on offer including one for the closest to the pin on a par 3. Anyway, the 4 of us arrived at that par 3.
I went second last on this hole & put my shot next to the green. My playing partner went next. He hit his iron shot perfectly. The green was downhill from the pin. The shot just covered the pin the whole way. Then it started to drop like a stone.
One of the guys with me said, "This'll be close". Well that was an understatement.
The ball dropped almost vertically when it was over the hole & landed exactly on top of the pin. Yes, it landed on the point of the flag pole!!!
If it had gone an inch further in distance, it might have hit the green & spun back into the hole. No, not on this occasion. It made a loud noise from the impact & bounced left and rolled to the edge of the green.
All of our jaws hit the ground. We couldn't believe how such a perfect shot could have such little reward.
Oh well, that's the nature of the game we play. Do you have any similar stories?
