Did I miss the news story where Chad Johnson legally changed his last name to Ocho Cinco?

Bengals deactivate Ocho Cinco for game against Steelers

PITTSBURGH -- The Cincinnati Bengals have deactivated receiver Chad Ocho Cinco for Thursday night's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers for violation of a team rule.

The Bengals would not elaborate on why Ocho Cinco was deactivated, and said there would be no comment until after the game.

However, ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen reports that according to a team source, Ocho Cinco violated team rules regarding team meetings, and there was a verbal confrontation with a coach.

The Steelers (7-3) play the Bengals (1-8-1) at 8:15 p.m. ET at Heinz Field.

Ocho Cinco's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, addressed the issue during an interview on ESPN's "SportsCenter" Thursday afternoon. Rosenhaus hinted that the infraction was not major, and believes the suspension will not go beyond one game.

"Chad is very disappointed that he's not playing, but he respects coach [Marvin] Lewis and the team's decision," Rosenhaus said. "He's not going to make this a controversy or a circus. We're going to keep it in-house between ourselves and the team. He's got five more games to go. This is unfortunate that he's not playing. Chad lives to play."

Reserve receiver Chris Henry likely will start in place of Ocho Cinco.

If he does start, it would be just the second of the season for Henry, who missed the first four games because of a suspension for violating the NFL's conduct policy. He had been released by the Bengals in the offseason, but owner Mike Brown took him back over the objections of Lewis.

Ocho Cinco had ankle surgery in June and a shoulder injury in August, and has not been as involved in the Bengals' offense as much as in previous years. Meanwhile, his former college teammate, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, has become the team's primary receiver.

Houshmandzadeh leads the NFL with 73 catches, and has four touchdowns. Ocho Cinco, a downfield threat in previous years, has 41 catches, none for more than 22 yards.

Replacing anybody with Chris Henry sums up their entire team.

Nope, he did change it. NFL wont put it on jerseys because of contract and property rights.

From what I've heard his jersey next year will say Ocho Cinco. If he wanted to have his jersey say it this year he would have had to drop a fortune to buy all the jersey's that are in the stores. Reebok did say they would sell them to him for $45/each versus the $100 or more per jersey. So next year instead of everyone calling him CJ he will be COC. :alien2: I hope he gets traded somewhere and gets number 24 or something. Let's see what he does then.

*Gummi goes on a rant*

He's an idiot. A decent player, but still an idiot.

As many times as the NFL's been burned by jackoff players like CJ and Pac Man (and countless others along the way), you'd think that these guys would have to go through some sort of screening process before they are drafted, and contracts signed to head this kind of stuff off. These are heroes to many young kids, and they will view these actions as being acceptable.

I dont group Johnson in the same catagory with Jones and others. Sure he is an ass. But a criminal he is not.

He may not be a criminal, but he would fit right in playing for Dallas. 'Nuff said...
