What will replace the Callaway XR line ?

To say that I'm impressed with the XR line is an understatement. I've never in my life carried the same brand irons and woods but my bag is now full of Callaway XR's. I've always made fun of guys that have a matching set but now I'm that guy with all Callaway in my bag except for my two Wilson wedges and my Ping putter. The last time I carried even the same brand of 3 wood and driver was maybe 1990.

I don't know what will replace the XR driver line, but I may have just found the holy grail of drivers for me. I hit an XR Pro with Graphite Design AD Di6 X flex yesterday and it may send my GBB to early retirement. I'm taking it out on the course for a trial run today and will report back later.

I hope that's not the case, I was really looking forward to a new set of irons and hybrids.

I have seen it multiple places. 2 year life cycle on irons and hybrids

The XR Pro is so underrated in my estimation. I wanted to love the GBB but it's the Obama of golf clubs for me, far left. The XR Pro is a consistent high fade and mostly importantly no fear when I tee it up whereas the GBB was the classic case of oh my god where the hell is going to go.

I doubt Callaway will do a 2 year cycle. They are very eager to get new stuff available. All the time.

The Apex line is a 2 year release cycle so they have done it in the past and will do so in the future

I had my C- swing today but still hit 3 bombs today out of the 5 times I hit it. It's early but I certainly like the XR Pro driver more than my Great Big Bertha or the new M1 driver. I still have yet to play a round with an 816 DBD but I may not want to with the way I'm hitting the XR Pro.

Not sure why everyone is posting a "2 year cycle" on the "X" irons. That has only applied to the Apex line.

- X Hot Irons released Jan. 25 2013
- X2 Hot Irons released Jan. 17 2014
- XR Irons released Feb. 20 2015

If history repeats itself, we might see a new XR iron in 2016.

FWIW, I've been told by 2 Callaway staffers that they will be slowing down releases in the future.

Whether that's true or not, I don't know. I don't care how often they release but just thought I'd share that.

Hey rtparty. No argument here as I don't have a dog in the fight. History will either repeat itself or it won't. Cheers.

No argument here either.

I personally don't see it happening as it goes directly against what we've been told straight from the ZooCrew. It's about inventory control and not release cycles.

But I found it interesting that two staffers told me the same thing.

I'm starting to think of Callaway product releases like the automotive industry. Control inventory on a yearly basis and release new product when ready regardless of time except for the premium line (R&D needs time to improve the product in a grander scale).

Not saying it is past history, but that it is going to happen this year. Apex is going to be what they push, and for good reason. They don't want two competing iron sets that are in the same segment, same thing with their Apex Hybrids.

I have heard from multiple sources Irons/Hybrids 2 year release cycle for XR line and XR16 Driver,FWs this year, but in December I bet we get more information.
