When JB is having a round on Friday, I'll be doing likewise at Northlakes, albeit playing in a different hemisphere!!!

Here is a link to its website, which unfortunately doesn't have too many shots of the course. http://www.northlakesgolfclub.com.au/

I have also pasted below a recent review I did after a round. You'll probably pick up from my review that I lost a ball or two along the way. Playing it straight is a must at Northlakes!!!

"Without wanting to scare anyone away, Northlakes is a tough course. It has only one or two parallel fairways, so if you’re not hitting straight, you’ll lose your ball in bushland. It’s that simple. Also, the edges of the fairways tend to be ‘rounded’ which encourage a ball near the edge of the fairway to roll off into bushland. It’s different to Brookwater (http://www.brookwater.com.au/golf/). Although Brookwater has plenty of bush on either side, the fairways tend to have a ‘valley’ in the centre, so that balls at the edge of fairways there tend to roll back to the centre. Nothlakes doesn’t.

So, for those who like the challenge of getting out of trouble if your ball goes wayward, you’ll be disappointed because if you stray left or right, your ball is gone.

As with any golf course, you need to be sensible when playing Northlakes but it is not a course where you can ‘play it safe’ to avoid the ball eating bushland on either side. A wayward 3 wood will give you the same result as a wayward driver.

Having said the above, the fairways and greens are in very good condition. I played in a very windy day and where I could on approaches, I successfully played ‘bump & runs’ to get it onto the green rather than putting it into the air. Although there are plenty of bunkers, the sand in them was light & fluffy. Getting out of bunkers wasn’t a problem.

Northlakes is a test of nearly every skill (and golf ball stocks) except it doesn’t allow you to scramble or play recovery shots. So don’t expect a great day with the score card (unless mulligans are employed). Wayward shots lose balls. I played Royal Pines (http://www.royalpinesresort.com.au/) recently in testing conditions & enjoyed it much more. If you’re Brisbane based & looking for a pleasant round, don’t mind losing a few balls & don’t worry too much about the scorecard then give Northlakes a try."

Nice review. Myself and Hacker will be playing in Tampa, FL . We will put the review of the course online afterwards.
