Sand Saves - Your Game

In my book it's out of any sand and making par

Stats wise yes a a par is needed but if you 1 putt out of a bunker your ahead of the game

Heck...I consider getting out of the sand and onto the green in one swing a sand save. Asking for anything more is just greedy.

You and me both. It's hard to get consistent when the sand is in the condition it's in around here.
Seems like a lot of bunkers I play out of are more aggregate than sand.

Odd day yesterday for me. Two greenside bunkers, on par 4, #3, a triple bogie, long shot from the back edge of the bunker, I caught it clean and hit it way over the green where it got really ugly. On par 5, #13, in a deep bunker, good lie, middle of the bunker, pin high, I got up and down for birdie. Stats say 50% sand saves but score shows two lost shots. So sand saves are not really meaningful but "shots lost in bunkers" gives a more complete picture. I don't know if there exists such a stat, if not there should be.

Question for you guys. On a par 5 my second shot went into the greenside bunker. I hit it out and 2 putt for par. Is that a sand save?
