Not sure how many have seen the story but if not check it out. http://www.tmz.com/2017/08/01/donald-de-la-haye-ucf-scholarship-youtube/

The NCAA can make all the profit they want off a student but a student can't make a profit off themselves. This might be the biggest corrupt sport organization there is. I know some are going to say all he had to do was take down his stuff or not make money but every other student can have a job and if they are not going to pay students to pay then they should be allowed to make money too.

Agreed. I'm not sure I'm on board with paying players but a player and their respective school should be able to come to an agreement over whether they can make money off themselves. The NCAA has outlived its usefulness.

Corrupt.

I don't think they should be paid to play, but let them make money other ways

The NCAA is an absolute joke. Non-profit organization my a$$.

It has been like this for at least 20 years now. They are corrupt to the core.

The biggest tragedy is when a student on a sports scholarship gets hurt and can't play anymore. The scholarship goes bye-bye and the student is SOL. The NCAA gives them nothing.

Not usually true. Usually the school transfers the student to an academic scholarship (at the big schools anyhow) and they are able to complete their schooling.

If they qualify, this is true. But how many do?

If even one student is effected by this, it is terrible. Getting hurt while making the NCAA and their University LOTS of $$. Career in the sport is over. Academic career potentially over. It's devastating and the NCAA doesn't give a rip about it.

Don't the already receive a monthly stipend for simple expenditures?

It's simple, it you play college athletics, you are not allowed to do certain things. That's how the real world works.

Did the article state they warned him to stop, and he didn't stop?

"Donald says school officials and NCAA officials told him to stop monatizing his YouTube page -- which has close to 100k subscribers. They also wanted him to give up some of the profits from the page as part of the NCAA's rules prohibiting players from cashing in on their images.
Donald refused and the University of Central Florida decided this week he's ineligible to play."

NCAA has issues, but if you choose to disregard, you pay the price.

He did something that is improper. He was given a warning and told to stop. He chose to keep doing it. His scholarship was worth more money than he made off the YouTube page. He is stupid and I have no sympathy for him.

The NCAA would be fine with this if the ****ing boosters allowed this to happen. Instead they all gave the players no show jobs and thousands of dollars.

Sadly it led to black and white rules. As with all things college football, blame the fans.
