Won a Callaway Big Bertha Fusion 7W at a tournament the other day

Brand new in plastic, recoil shaft in regular flex. Torn about what to do with it - play it (never had a 7 wood before) or sell it (value can't be too high, can it?)

    What would you do?

No question in my mind, I'd sell it. I gamed a 5wd for a while and I couldn't keep from ballooning it. I can only imagine a 7wd now. It'd probably hit peak height and then turn backward toward me.

If you are perfectly happy with your 4 hybrid and could use a few extra bucks, sell it. If not, give it a go. I played a 7 wood for several years with success and probably will again in the future. Still have the old Cleveland Launcher 7W that is 12 or so years old.

Id say give it a shot. I doubt new in plastic will net much more than gently used.

Call Callaway pre-owned and see what you would get as a trade in. They have an extra 50% deal on trade ins a few times a year.

My 5W has already replaced my 3h, so its not a stretch that a 7W might replace my 4h. I haven't been as consistent with my 4h as I would like, so this might be an option.

I say to try the 7W then. You don't have anything in it so it would certainly be a cheap experiment. I thought the 7 would was very easy to hit more consistently than the 4h or 4i I had at the time and gave me distance very similar those clubs and with a higher, softer landing ball flight. Some people just hit FWs better than hybrids. I am one of those people and will probably always carry at least 2.

I guess I'll never understand how a club with less loft and more length can be easier to hit, but I don't dispute that there are people out there that do it. Just doesn't make sense to me.

It seems like the equivalent of taking a 10 driver that is 44" long and an 8 driver that's 46" long. I'd say the vast majority of people would hit the shorter, higher lofted driver better. For those of you saying you hit a 7wd better than a 4h, do you think you'd like the longer/lower lofted driver better, too?

I know a few people who are deadly with their 7 wood. I would give it a rip and if you don’t like it sell it.

I think generally a player with a draw biased swing will like a FW better while a player with a fade biased swing will like hybrids better. JMO of course.

Also this was clearly a clearing out old pro shop inventory prize LOL!! I had a Fusion 3 wood for a while and it was a rocket launcher, but oddly enough based on my statement above these clubs seemed to be super draw biased with the Recoil shafts as I would hook the tar out of that club at times.

Because there are more variables than those two. Take a blade 3 iron and then a hybrid 2 iron, 7 wood, etc.

Just as some people hit driver better than 3 wood. More forgiving, different weighting by design, higher MOI, etc.

I'd play it - Nothing so satisfying that "Picking" a ball with that smaller head of 7W off a fairway and landing softly just before a green and rolls up to the cup for a tap in.
You can also use the 7W to chop out of some roughs as well .
