Traveling to San Jose w/Kids. Hotel recommendation?

Heading up to San Jose, Ca. Driving from Los Angeles over Labor day weekend.
Leaving Friday and coming back Sunday.
Going to visit Standford, Google and Apple. My kids are still young and my oldest is Junior in HS. Just trying to show him what the college campus is like.

I really don't want to stay near Airport but all the choices I have is near airport.
Would like to have pool so kids can play little.

Any particular area that would be ideal? Doesn't have to be chain hotel. My is little picky where we're staying so I'd like tad better hotel, no Motel 6 kind. maybe $250-$300 night?

Can't go wrong with the Fairmont but that might be a little further than you would like. The location is hard to beat however as it is in downtown San Jose and close to everything.

there's a couple places like ASN21 said in downtown that are great.

Booked a place called Global Luxury suite in Mountain View. From photos they looked perfect for our purpose. 2 bed and 2 bath and kitchen. Walking distance to Starbucks and Chipotle. Perfect. $200 a night.
