These are good! If you can think of any others ... add them to the list.


  1. It was my first time at the course.
  2. I didn't get a chance to warm up.
  3. I haven't had enough time to practice lately.
  4. It's impossible to score in this weather.
  5. It was too long of a wait between shots.
  6. I felt rushed
  7. My mind was elsewhere today.
  8. Those pins were unfair
  9. I just couldn't score
  10. My caddie was giving me bad reads all day. (Bones... you are outta here!)
  11. The water coolers were empty, felt like I was going to pass out.
  12. The guys I was playing with struggled, and it brought down my game.
  13. I didn't dress appropriately for this weather
  14. My shirt was too tight
  15. The greens weren't holding.
  16. I mentally checked out
  17. I was just worn out
  18. I drank too much
  19. I ate too much before the round
  20. I couldn't catch a break
  21. I was using borrowed equipment
  22. My distances were off all day
  23. My back was killing me (my personal favorite)
  24. I just had a lesson
  25. I had the yips
  26. I was nervous
  27. The greens were just aerated
  28. I was just trying to have fun
  29. I'm going thru a swing change
  30. I suck!

Adjusting to new equipment
 
The greens were too fast.

The greens were too slow.
 
The bunkers were hardpan.

The bunkers were too fluffy.
 
The group ahead was holding us up all day.

The group behind us was pushing us all day even though there was nowhere to go.
 
i played the wrong tees

that could go both ways. maybe you played too far back and had long irons or hybos/woods into greens. or maybe you played too far up, and didn't adjust your tee game accordingly.
 
It was too cold.

It was too hot.
 
The group I was paired with wouldn't shut up and I couldn't concentrate.

I'm #30!! No other excuses.

Today I'm going out for a quick 9 with only 3 clubs so that will be my excuse for the day =). 7w, SW, Putter.
 
#30 pretty much covers it for me.
 
I suck.
Plain.
Simple.
