Hi all,

I was wondering if the knowledge on the forum could chime in on the importance of refresh rates on 4K TVs.
I bought a 55" Sony X800E last night over a Samsung 55" MU7100 because the salesman basically put the Sony quality over Samsung and the picture looked better, however reviewing the specs, he appears to have misspoke in saying they are both 120Hz TVs when the Sony is a 60Hz TV according to several sites and the Samsung is 60Hz native and 120Hz motion.

Can someone explain the difference and importance of refresh rates with these 4K TVs? Some say that refresh rates play no factor in new UHD TVs since the resolution is so high, but I've also read that it still does play a factor in the TV's gaming ability.

refresh rate is not the same as frames per second

gaming ability would be determined by input lag

the 120hz and 240hz thing is marketing, the input is still 60hz with interpolation for judder control (motion control, motion smoothing, etc), the downside is that these settings can introduce artifacting and uneven motion
