UK Summer Cup 2015

I could now be doubtful for this, I had the stitches out yesterday but the hand specialist has immobilised my thumb and hand even more now and this new splint is on for another month at least but I've been told to expect possibly 2mths and then 1mth of hand therapy, so that's another 2-3mths out!

As such yesterday & today I've been conceding matchplay comps I'd qualified into at my club, cancelled my entry into the League of Dubai & Nike matchplay comps along with other forum meets around the country with hotels already booked all the way up to the 1st week of July!

Apparently the tendons really need as much time as possible to strengthen and repair or my thumb could become permanently stiff, shame it was my thumb and not something else ;)

That is not good to hear, thought it was you posting on another forum about that

Hope it is wrong but you don't want to rush back too soon and cause longer term issues

Sad news Mizuno, wishing you a speedy recovery

Damo, Doc .... your comments have been duly noted and will be used against you at the first opportunity

You won't be saying that when we help you find your ball for ya :D

Played a comp in sustained 30mph wind, shot a 72 (our course is par 70) net with a 7 on the 9th hole...

Only my second 18 after my operation and I was flagging by the last 4 holes!

Nice round there Damo

Had my first 18 today with the new irons and shot a nett +5 which included a penalty for a lost ball and 2 3-putts so I am not complaining. It is also the first full round I have been able to play this year so it hasn't started too bad

Need to get my new distances sorted out and decide what club to get to fill the gap between my 5i and 5w - suspected I did but it was confirmed today with a 193yd par 3 into a strong wind.....5i would get there if it was still but I hit a choked down 5w to put it almost pin high off the right edge

I'm off to Wakefield on Friday with our society anual weekend away. Managed another solid 18 today with a buddy who had his worst round in years on Saturday. We managed to figure out what he was doing wrong by 8th hole..

Im in love with my SLDR driver! #11 plays 420 and I had 101 to the pin :bomb:

Have fun on Friday Damo

I am looking forward to my next round with the new irons, especially if I start hitting wedges like I did on our 2nd hole on Monday (that was our 11th hole as it was a shotgun start)

Only 8 weeks to go now folks - is everyone else looking forward to it and taking down El B a peg or 2 and take that trophy off him...?

:alien:

Unfortunately I'm 100% out of this now

Just back from my hospital appointment and have come away with my 3rd different styled splint, this one has to stay on continuously for the next 4 weeks, I can only take it off to do some hand exercises 4 times a day and to rub some cream into the scar tissues 4 times a day also.

I'll now stay with this physio lady throughout the rest of my treatment which she estimates will be another 6-8 weeks taking me into the 2nd week of July, that being 12 weeks in total at that point since sawing through my thumb :bad:

This now takes everything out I had arranged for June, which I expected but now I must accept that the start of July is out also so I have got to cancel my trip to Close House :banghead:

The next 6-8 weeks are key, 4 in this new splint and then 4 without a splint doing gentle hand movements and nothing too strenuous as to not rupture the tendons which will still be weak after the surgery.

Thanks for all the well wishes and advice, I haven't done anything golf related yet, not sure if I will TBH, I think I'll find it too frustrating if I go to the club or a range and try chipping one-handed or just putting drills, so I think its best to just sit it out, so I've booked some holiday time down Camber Sands.

Sorry guys.

Damn Mizuno, not good to hear, hope it heals well and you can get back to golf sooner rather than later

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery Blue.

Sorry to hear this Mizuno, really sucks! Hope the recovery goes well and keep us updated of your progress.

I go off and do things for a few weeks...and look what you get up to.

Mizuno. Tart. What did you go and do that for? Ginger ninja was looking for a place and I just asked the hotel. Obviously the easiest solution would be for him to take your spot. Although - he was not 100% on getting the day off. I'll PM him and you.

Doc, Damo. Bring it on girls. In the heat of a THP match all this fighting talk will float away....

Will_I_Dream...wake up! On the first tee, in the first group...cameras poised....."FORE LEFT!"

The Trophy will be staying down South.

I'm not sure its even worth bringing it to the event...

:comp: (Keyboard Warrior Champion)

Welcome back El B, no doubt you will be spending the next 7 weeks on the course getting your practice in.....

Had my second round with the new clubs yesterday and shot a nett +1 which included 3 doubles and a triple so things aren't looking too bad

On an additional note, I will post nearer the time, but to give you all a heads-up now

There are a lot of roadworks on the A1 once you get north of Durham, so for those of you heading up from the south, make sure you allow yourself a fair bit of extra time as the last time I headed up that way there were average speed cameras and the speed limits were set to 30mph in some places so you have roughly 10 miles of this to contend with

Damo may have more information on this, but I fully expect to be at the Metrocentre between now and July so I will let you all know what the situation is when we head up there

Doc. A gentleman does not practice.

I shall appear on the first tee in my bloomers, swish the bats a bit and crack on.

I'm going to come up earlier to have a game with the Vikings on Saturday - they are staying up by the airport somewhere I think.

I'm watching lots of 'Inspector George Gently' to help with the accent thing. Do you have a phrase book?

If I can manage the Saturday I will join you all as well

As for the phrase book, ya divvent need one a them even if ya from doon sooth, we can speak proppa as well ya naw :D

Quite. I'll have a large one.

Yes Glenn, 30mph average speed camera's for a few miles as you approach and pass Team Valley. I beleive its 40mph then 50mph until you pass the Metrocentre where it reverts back to the national speed limit..

On a side note, I played up at Foxton Hall on Sunday in almost gale force winds! 10th hole was measured at 423 and straight into the teeth of the wind. I hit a good drive just missing the right edge of the fairway, second shot was a very well struck 4i right down the middle. I still had 98 to the pin! I crushed a 6i and still came up 10 yards short!! It was hilarious....

Yet the 9th was straight down wind and playing 380 and I nearly drove the green with a 3 wood!!

Strongest wind I have ever played in and I'm used to playing in the wind! It even blew my electric trolly over with my tour bag on it....

They are tough rounds....reminds me of a stories I heard from a golf day at Matfen Hall that I missed

The guys played the 9 hole par 3 course first and the wind was so bad that not one person managed to hit a single green on the first and there were about a dozen of them!

We were playing closest to the pin on this little 167 gem (green is in the far right of the pic).

One person hit the green out of 20 golfers!!

I was happy with my 28 points, thats how hard it was playing. The greens were like glass and with the wind you just couldn't hold the ball on them..

Damn Mizuno, that's rubbish, hope it heals quick and well and we'll see you soon.

El B, when do you need the rest of the money?

Payments
£40 will reserve your spot - the sooner the better. We have 16 spots held at the moment, and the hotel will start nudging me quite quickly. A lot of weekends are already fully booked.
I know that this is a way off - but unless we get a decent body of early commitments, then we run the risk of losing the booking and/or the price - so some nice firm “Yes I’m in” posts please and less of the “Oh, I might have to do my hair that night” posts. Please chase up your buddies and get them on the thread. Wouldn’t it be great to get 5 four balls out?
We have 4 four balls reserved at this moment. I MAY be able to adjust that.
The balance will be required May 15th
Please DO NOT pay me by Paypal. I need to do some admin around paypal accounts - and my old email addresses are no longer valid.
I will reserve Posts 2 and 3 on this thread for admin details and a rolling list of attendees and payments.

There you go Crag

Ooops! I'll send it ASAP. Is your PayPal still messed up?
