<<<New Guy. Always looking for new partners.
Welcome to THP! You've got a bunch of great guys from the site around Seattle and just a touch north.

Welcome Stu! Where are you at?

Welcome Stu, hope to tee it up with you soon. Haven't played past Bellingham but that will change soon

What courses do you like to play?

If we ever revive our talks the PNW group may just have a second outing at Chambers. Hope you can make it. If not, the guys up by you are always getting out to play.

Mostly, I play public as I am trying to learn and play as much as possible while testing the wife's tolerance for the new golf budget. I would love to get out to Chamber's some day.

Anybody who's interested - I set up a fitting down at the Callaway Performance Center at Swinomish Casino for Sunday morning, and discovered that since they are in the process of setting up their new fitting studio, they are running their fittings out of a covered area on their range right now (still using launch monitors and everything). As a result of the slight turmoil of the studio setup, they are offering FREE FITTINGS until they get it setup in the beginning of March! And not only that, they're featuring some Nike equipment as well because the pro likes their new line, so even better fitting selection. Figured I'd let everyone know if folks are interested!

How exactly does one go about setting up a fitting there?

Just give them a call at Swinomish Golf Links. Just got back from it, and it wasn't quite the full performance center deal for now, but he got me on the right track and made some excellent recommendations and I didn't pay a dime. He was using a portable Trackman unit which was pretty good too.

That being said, I plan on going back a little later to get the full dynamic fitting. Their full performance center will be setup by March 1st, and then a 2 hour full bag Trackman fitting with full Callaway and Nike fitting gear is $99 and includes a dozen balls. I don't know that there's anywhere you can get that for anywhere near that price, and Josh the fitter is a great guy and seems to really know his $hit.

Id love to hear your results Ryan

Working on writing them up for a post a little later today. He's planning on sending me a detailed email within the next few days as well with some initial recommendations.

In summary though, he recommends I change iron shafts to something of similar weight that spins a little less, like C Taper Lite, and possibly a smaller head that launches a little lower - he had me hitting a Vapor Pro Combo and was liking the results. He isn't ready to make a recommendation on driver/fwy just yet (wants to do the full dynamic fitting), but he thinks I'm pretty close on those. I was absolutely HAMMERING a Big Bertha 3W with Fubuki though.

Some interesting stuff there.
I'm surprised that so many fitters seem to be looking for lower launch and less forgiveness for some reason. I've never thought you hit your irons overly high by any stretch.

Not so much looking for less forgiveness, but it was one way he saw to drop the spin. He actually quite likes the flight I have with my irons, but thinks the CTL's could eke out some more yards by dropping spin without changing launch much. The VPC/players head idea was another brainstorm in that direction.

He did interestingly say that he thought I could play blades if I wanted to - I was striking the ball awesome today. He thought I was a mid single digit haha. I don't know whether to be offended or not, cause that reflects real poorly on my short game :alien:

Very cool!
Honestly man I don't have a clue why our caps are so different, I feel like we're equal out there.

My fitter was stunned that I wanted AP1s and was trying to convince me to go from the DPCs to the CBs (no thanks).
I always seem to hit the ball awesome during fittings but not so hot on course.

I know why, my short game is rubbish compared to yours, even if it has improved haha. Once I can really start chipping close and dropping putts, I'll be in good shape.

Yeah that would be my feeling as well haha. Honestly I'll probably see what the numbers difference is like once we have the legit studio fitting, and think about it then. I have the CB3 or CMB heads I could look at reshafting with CTL if that's what he recommends. I'm not looking to drop a grand on a set of Vapor Pro Combos unless it's really going to benefit me.

I thought I'd try again....any interest in getting together somewhere in the Olympia/Tacoma/Seattle area where many of us from around the region could get together for a round? We talked about Chambers before but it doesn't have to be that course, just something that plays reasonably well in the winter. I'm crazy busy as usual with the kid's activities but my golf calendar appears to be open for the next few months.

Entirely possible! I'm shot the next couple weekends, but could possibly swing something the first our second weekend in March, or the last weekend in March.

If it's around the end of March I would love to! It would be great to meet some of you all for the first time.

Im interested but it would just be depending on date.

I should know more how my march is going to shape up tomorrow (hopefully).
