With all of the recent discussions and comparisons of golf balls such as Vice, Snell, Kirkland, and how golfers feel they compare to ProV's, etc. and resulting preferences, it got me to wondering.

We know that certain balls perform better or worse based on certain swing speeds and balls can feel and perform different when putting based on whether the putter has an insert or not. Is there any correlation between ball preference and/or performance based on the type of irons being used? For example, does a softer ball like the Chrome Soft perform better or worse or be preferred or not preferred based on feel with forged clubs? Conversely, would a firmer ball feel "harsh" or "clicky" and not be preferred by a golfer using cast irons?

Curious if others feel there may be more to a correlation between the two.
