We hear a lot about properly compressing a ball but can you over compress it and loose distance and performance?

I'm going to say no. Will low compression work for everyone? Probably not. But I do not think a ball can be over compressed. Heck it wasn't long ago the Lady Precept got played on tour. Sure it was only 1 player, but if a PGA Pro can't over compress a ladies golf ball, that's all I need to know.
Frank LickliterWho was that?
I agree with Ddec. I don't think it can be over compressed but to much compression could be detrimental for some golfers.
Yes, you can. Low compression balls are not designed for high swing speeds. The site I visited mentioned excessive spin and control problems.
Wouldn't that be the definition of "Over Compressing a golf ball"? The point where the amount of compression is detrimental?
If I can remember next week I'm going to ask around. I'm genuinely curious.I would think if you can under compress you would be able to over compress. Would be interested to see some sort of data. I have no idea what data would be fit to prove it right or wrong.

When it gets rallo'd hard.I guarantee that it is possible... probably not humanly possible though... at what point does the ball explode?
So it has to hit a tree to be over compressed? When it gets rallo'd hard.
I would think that it is possible, isn't that deforming the golf ball? Not sure what type of force it would take, but I am sure that the ball could be deformed to the point that it loses flight characteristics.
Anyway, I will wait to read what ddec finds out next week as he will talk to smart people who know things not some idiot on a golf forum (talking about myself in this case).
