After reading some of the discussion in the Top 100 Courses thread, it got me thinking. If JB and GG asked for your input on where to host a future THP event in your state, which would you pick? Let's assume it is limited to a public course and should be able to accommodate lodging/dining/etc.

Winstar.

Worlds largest casino, fun course, good food, and on the OK and TX border.

I know THP tried to make it work in the past to no avail, but an event at the Turning Stone Resort would be pretty awesome.

Kohler. Any of the 4 courses. Plus a great (expensive) resort. A man can dream, and then wake up and be thankful for all that JB, GG, and MD411 do for us

Firekeeper, just north of Topeka is supposed to be first-rate and has a hotel and casino. I haven't played it yet.

This sounds like all sorts of fun

It's a good question actually. I'd recommend Northview G+CC if it had to be in the Vancouver Area - 2 great Palmer designs and a former PGA Tour stop. No on site lodging but the Pub and Restaurant are great with a TON of options nearby. Cheap hotels aplenty nearby, and 2 casinos within 15 minutes from the course if people are into that sort of thing. Course is 45 minutes from Vancouver Airport.

Getting to northern MI (where the best public courses are) is a pain, so we'd have to keep it to the metro detroit area. I would say The Orchards, Shepherd's Hollow, or Eagle Eye would be great host sites for a THP event and are all reasonably priced. Hope JB is listening.....:act-up:

La Cantera Resort & Spa (home of the Texas Valero Open)

Barton Creek (Austin)

Horseshoe Bay

Any of these would be fun to have an event

Im always listening my friend...haha
Did they fix the water?
Is Kid Rock there?

If it weren't so expensive I'd say TPC Four Seasons at Las Colinas (AT&T Byron Nelson). Stay and play for one is $525.

Kid Rock grew up in Romeo, which is 9 minutes from The Orchards listed above.
On Diners Drive Ins and Dives, Kid Rock took Guy Fieri to Clarkston Union Bar & Kitchen for a killer mac and cheese. That is 5 minutes from Shepherds Hollow listed above.
None of these courses serve Flint water.

Sounds like a THP event is coming to MI with those answers!

Pinehills in Plymouth would get my vote or Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster

Lol, I drive past Kid Rock's place all the time. We technically live on the same street (M15). Back in college I worked at the Kroger in Clarkston and waited on him. Didn't recognize him until I noticed the Olde English D on his forearm. More importantly, I can't seem to find any past THP events in MI.....

Turning Stone is the first that pops into my head as well. While I've never played there seems like the perfect setup for an event really. Wish TS could have made it work with THP.

PGA West! :D

I think this is a really good point. Travel considerations should realistically be considered. Sadly, the really great courses here in MI aren't the most accessible.

For Colorado #1 would have to be the broadmoor but since that is pretty pricey I would go with keystone. 36 holes, mountain resort, and who wouldn't want to play golf at 9000+ feet.

Yeah unfortunately it keeps out Top 20 in the country courses like Arcadia and Forest Dunes, but the ones I listed are darn good courses and would be great host sites. Eagle Eye hosted the MI Amateur last year and was in the Top 100 very recently and has an exact replica of #17 at Sawgrass, would make for some awesome drama down the stretch of a THP event. Shepherds Hollow was also in the Top 100 a few years ago.
