1998 was the release. It was a unique release because LCG kind of meant Low CG. They dropped the CG low for higher ball flight and added perimeter weight to the heel and toe for added forgiveness. I had a set of these (briefly) and while they weren't hugely popular in my area, I know that some that played them loved them.
They were kind of sandwiched between Bubble and Firesole so get forgotten a bit.

How old are these Irons?
Well, I told him they looked 20 years old. He has Reg Steel shafts and he hits it a ton. Saw him hit the 2i from the fairway.

2 iron probably had the same loft as the M2 5 iron
Believe it was '97 or '98. I almost bought these but held out for 990's
