Long story short, was fitted for +1/2" but have been seeing more success lately choking down about an inch. Better to go for a refitting and possibly have shafts cut down, or stick with the existing lengths and just choke down?

I normally have my irons built just a touch long, because i prefer to grip down a bit. Couple of things you may, or may not, notice when choking down:
- Thickness of grip may be a bit less as your gripping a bit further down the shaft; this can be fixed by re-gripping and adding another layer of tape, either overall, or in specific spots.
- Swing weight of the clubs will feel, and be, effectively less as you'll be closer to balance point of the club. If this is noticeable, you could add a bit of lead tape to bring the head weight back up.
