Putter shaft length

I love my putter. Being such a newbie, it's probably the strongest part of my game.

That being said, I usually grip it very low. I think it's 34" and I'm contemplating getting it cut down an inch and a half and regripping it with a thicker grip.

Will that change the balancing of the head? Thanks for any help!
 
I have to cut down all of my putters to fit me 30" and it usually it makes the head feel lighter. If you only grip down 1 inch then I would strongly consider just buying one of the superstroke xl grips. Then you can have your normal grip lower on the putter shaft and that way you don't have to cut it.

But only taking 1 inch shouldn't make much of a difference imo.

It will decrease the swing weight by 9 points. 3 points per 1/2". The difference in the feel with the decrease in swing weight is completely up to the individual. Some it will bother, some it won't.
 
Most will never notice the SW or balance change in a putter. Some will, the vast majority won't though.
