Morgan Cup Equipment: What would you choose? (2014)

I like that setup.

My setup changes daily it seems but today I'm looking at:

J40 445 9.5 AD-DI 7x
J40 3+ AD-DI 8x
J40 5w AD-DI 8x
J40 CBs 3-PW (no idea what I'll be doing for shafts)
52, 58 Black Oxide
True Balance T-03

I hear you hit that 9.5 with di7x great. stick with it if it works!

Here is my early draft:

SLDR 430 10.5

Jetspeed 15 3 wood Tour Green S

17* SLDR hybrid

Speed blade 4 Iron

5-6 TP CB
7-PW TP MC
50* 54* TP Wedges
58* ATV

Spider CS CB Mallet

Loved it, man. Thanks for letting me spend some quality time with it.

BB Alpha 10.5
BB 4 wood
X2H 7 wood
Apex 4-AW
MD2 54, 58
MXM Rossie

Seeing as I just got a cobra amp cell driver and it's probably my favorite club I have ever bought I wouldn't mind getting all new cobra stuff.

My current ponder:

Bio Cell + Driver
Bio Cell 3/4 Fairway
Bio Cell 2/3 and 4/5 Hybrids
Bio Cell 6-PW Irons
Tour Trusty 48/52/56/60
SeeMore HT Counterbalanced

Mine has changed quite a bit since hitting the clubs:

Bio Cell+ Driver
Bio Cell 3/4 and 5/7 Fairways
Bio Cell 4/5 Hybrid
Bio Cell 6-8 Irons
Bio Cell+ 9-G Irons
Tour Trusty 54/58/62
SeeMore PTM1 - Black (FGP USA)

Wedge set-up is still in the air and I could drop one to add another iron or hybrid.

Based purely on the demo day I went to last week, my current thoughts are:

Big Bertha 10.5 - Fubuki Zeta Regular

Big Bertha 3W - Fubuki Zeta Regular

X2Hot 3 and 4 Hybrid - X2Hot Blue Stiff

Apex 5-AW - KBS Tour 90 Stiff

MD2 Chrome 54, 58

Versa #7 CS (maybe?!?)

Interesting that you go with regular flex in the woods and stiff for everything else. I'm pretty much the opposite. My coach says my first move down flexes a regular graphite shaft so that it can't recover before my hands are in the impact position. I'll probably be rocking stiff flex graphite shafts and regular flex iron shafts.

Right now I think my setup, if I were choosing, would look something like this:

X2 Hot driver, Aldila Tour Green shaft, stiff flex (the lower launch just seems to fit my swing better)

X2 Hot #4 wood, Aldila Tour Blue shaft (I've gotten a higher launch from it and more spin from the Tour Blue shaft that I've tested, much better for hitting to a yardage) stiff flex

X2 Hot 3 & 4 Hybrid, Aldila RIP85 shafts (loved the launch and distance I got with this shaft from the Cobra Amp hybrids, up until I started swinging fast enough that I was overcoming the flex), stiff flex

Apex 5-AW, stock shaft (unless a fitting reveals a decided difference). I love how these feel. Super comfortable, great balance. I would have to see a real order of magnitude difference between these and the X2Hot irons to get my away from the Apex irons.

MD2 wedges in 54 & 58 degrees, slate finish

And I honestly don't know what putter. Probably a blade. Tank Cruiser 1 certainly has my interest piqued. But so does the Metal X Milled Versa 1, and the MXM 6. I'm pretty predisposed to a blade, but it's the money-maker, so I'll happily defer to science.

With Callaway. Probably:

Big Bertha 10.5*
X2 Hot 3W 15*
X2 Hot 5W 19*
X2 Hot 4h 22*
Apex 5-GW (with KBS Tour V)
MD2 54* and 58*
Metal X Milled #9

Would be torn on whether to go Apex Pro from 8 iron down.

I would hate to be limited to only one brand, but since the putter is the most important club in my bag, I would have to select Callaway since odyssey has the best selection of putters. I'd go with the Alpha driver, X2 Hot 2Deep, apex forged irons, and probably the Versa Jailbird putter.

I think this might be one of the best putting years that the MC has ever had...yes there's Odyssey, but you have arguably one of the easiest alignment systems ever in Cleveland's Smart Square, great tech in Bridgestone's True Roll, some awesome putters coming from TaylorMade, and let's not forget SeeMore.

Pure speculation at this point as I havnt been to a cobra fitter yet, and the numbers will make final decision.

I wouldn't be choosy. All of the OEMs are awesome. I have never gotten a message from a tour rep, I'm sure it's awesome.

This is my thought. I have been lucky enough to be in it 3 times and to experience 3 different sponsors. All of them are amazing.

My bag would actually probably be slightly surprising to some but I would go with TaylorMade..

I'm REALLY surprised you go for the Jetspeed Keyg, any reason why you'd go for the Jetspeed Driver and FW??

I'm extremely lucky, because if I had to pick one it would have been Bridgestone. Without speaking with my tour rep yet or doing anything real fitting wise this is what I'd chose this setup...

J40 - 445 (No idea which shaft yet)
J40 - 16* Fairway
J40 - 21* Hybrid
J40 - DPC 4i-6i
J40 - CB 7i-PW
J40 - 52* bent to 50* (Same shaft as my irons)- 56* bent to 55* - 60*
True Balance TD-03
B330S

More I'm thinking about it, the more I'm leaning towards...

J40 445 - Unsure on shaft as of now.
J40 16* FW - Unsure on shaft as of now.
J40 18* Hybrid - Unsure on shaft as of now.
J40 DPC Irons - 4 at 22* 5 at 26* 6 at 30* with DG Pro S300 shaft.
J40 CB Irons - 7 at 34* 8 at 38* 9 at 42* PW at 46* with DG Pro S300 shaft.
J40 Black Oxide Wedges 52* bent to 50* with DG Pro S300 shaft. 56* bent to 54* and 60* bent to 58* with DG Spinners.

All with pink ferrules and matching pink DTX pure grips with 1 wrap for the right hand 2 for the left.

Rocking the B330-S.

I'm a hack. Put me with Cobra because I like their Baffler XL line. It's a solid one top to bottom that fits my handicap and I really like it at the high end (which is where I struggle the most). Round it out with some of the Tour Trusty Wedges that I've heard nothing but good things about, and a face balanced, counter balanced, mallet putter, and I'd be off.

My back up would be Callaway with X2Hot in the driver and fairway slots with the Razr HL hollow body hybrid iron setup. Pair that with some of the Roger Cleveland designed wedges and a Versa'd Metal X Milled #7 and I think I'd feel comfortable with the short game.

If I had to pick without getting a fitting (which I haven't gotten yet, but plan to), here's what my Bridgestone bag would look like:

Driver: 445cc 10.5*
J40 4w (16*)
J40 3h & 4h (21* & 24*)
J40 DPCs 5-PW either PX flighted shafts or KBS shafts (KBS fitting says should be c-tapers?)
J40 52* bent to 50* with iron shafts, 54* & 58* with DG spinner shafts. Leaning black oxide.
True Balance DT-01

I'm still so uncertain about what my setup will look like, but I've reconsidered the top and bottom.

Right now I'm thinking 3+ and 5w and dropping the 58*. If I do that, I'm not sure if I stick with the 54* or bump it to 56*. So many options, it's tough to pick just one. Is the 14 club rule strictly enforced, or is it more of a suggestion?
