Awful Golfer from NC

Welcome to THP!!!

Welcome. I shot around 100 when I first joined THP as well.
I'm hoping to improve as well, you guys all seem really knowledgeable.

You guys are really awesome with all of the welcomes, Thank you :)

I love Wilmington, my best friend's girlfriend goes to school there now, so I third wheel at times just to visit. I haven't golfed there yet though, suggest any courses? My best friend is a lot better than I, he usually shoots low 80s to mid 70s, and he visits Wilmington a few times a month. I'm trying to get him to sign up as well.

The Wilmington Muni is a neat Donald Ross design that was renovated last year where they improved the greens, enlarged them, reworked the bunkers and made other improvements. It's pretty much wide open and there aren't too many hazards on the course, so you won't have to worry too much about that stuff.

Right outside of Wilmington in Leland is Cape Fear National. It's always in good shape and it's a fun layout, but it can be tough with lots of forced carries and hazards.

Castle Bay in Castle Hayne is a fun course--it's just North of Wilmington and is usually in good shape and has a nice layout.
Magnolia Greens is another solid option in Leland--not as nice as Cape Fear National--but it's got a great practice range and has 27 holes.

There are other courses around, but those are the ones I would recommend the most.

Welcome to THP. Just joined myself a week or two back. Also not far from you either. I'm in Goldsboro myself. Just started golfing this summer so I'm awful as well, but I have fun.
